Buffalo Bills -11.5 at FanDuel
The wagon just keeps on moving for HC Sean McDermott and his fiery Buffalo Bills (6-1, 4-2-1 ATS) as they enter Sunday’s game against the New York Jets amidst a four-game winning streak. The odds-on Super Bowl favorites at FanDuel Sportsbook (+230) have not lost a game since they fell to the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 3 and will now look to take down the surprising young Jets and pick up their first AFC East win of 2022.
The Bills will rumble into MetLife following a pair of impressive victories on national television, highlighted by a comeback win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6 and a rout of the Green Bay Packers in Week 8 following Buffalo’s bye week. The team is clicking on all cylinders at the moment, from its loaded defense to MVP-favorite Josh Allen (+125 at FanDuel Sportsbook) leading the way on offense.
Despite boasting a solid 2-1-1 record against the spread in road games, Buffalo has been far more dominant at home in 2022. All three of Buffalo’s home games have been complete and utter routs of lesser competition (Titans, Steelers, Packers), whereas on the road they were tied with the lowly Los Angeles Rams at halftime (-2.5), lost outright to Miami (-5), trailed the Baltimore Ravens 20-3 right before halftime (-3.5), and needed a comeback in the final two minutes to take down Kansas City (-3). This is not to say the Jets are going to win outright, but with a spread as big as 11.5 in a divisional road game, Buffalo could find itself struggling to cover the number on Sunday afternoon.
New York Jets +11.5 with FanDuel Sportsbook
Although it has been somewhat of a dream start to the season for HC Robert Saleh and his rambunctious New York Jets (5-3, 5-3 ATS), Gang Green will enter Sunday’s AFC East showdown with low spirits following last week’s wakeup call against the New England Patriots.
In the team’s first game since losing star rookie RB Breece Hall and starting offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker to season ending injuries, New York was taken down at home by the Patriots, 22-17. The final score doesn’t really reflect how deflating of a loss this felt like for the Jets, as QB Zach Wilson imploded for three interceptions after the two-minute warning in the first half. New York will now look to bounce back against Buffalo, playing in front of the home fans for the second consecutive week.
Since Wilson made his season debut back in Week 4, the Jets are 1-1 at home both overall and against the spread. Buffalo did get the better of the Jets at MetLife Stadium last season, routing New York with a final score of 45-17, however that came against the lowly quarterback combo of Mike White and Joe Flacco. Prior to last year’s blowout, Buffalo tiptoed out of East Rutherford with a pair of narrow victories in both 2020 (18-10 Bills) and 2019 (17-16 Bills). Considering NFL home underdogs of 7.5 points or more are 5-0 ATS on the season, and double-digit NFL road favorites are 50-68 ATS since 2003, give me the Jets to keep this one close until the bitter end.
