Saturday’s early NFL game will feature the AFC’s current 1-seed in the Kansas City Chiefs traveling into Las Vegas to take on the stumbling Raiders. Kansas City will be playing to lock up the conference’s top playoff spot amidst a ton of controversy following the Bills-Bengals suspension on Monday Night Football.
Kansas City can still secure home field advantage throughout the postseason if they take down the Raiders this afternoon, although it would also require a loss to the New England Patriots by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. If both teams were to win, a potential Chiefs-Bills AFC Championship Game would be held at a neutral site. With so much riding on this one, Kansas City jumps out as a hefty 8.5-point favorite on the road despite surviving a 30-29 scare at home to the Raiders back in Week 5.
As for Las Vegas, their season officially ended after losing three of their last four games to the likes of the Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, and San Francisco 49ers. Following the team’s 13-10 loss to Pittsburgh, longtime starting QB Derek Carr was benched by HC Josh McDaniels and replaced by backup Jarrett Stidham. Carr’s time as a Raider is seemingly now over, leaving tons of question marks surrounding the franchise after an incredibly disappointing season in Year 1 for McDaniels.
