Saints vs Buccaneers game details and betting preview

  • Date: Monday, December 5, 2022
  • Start Time: 8:15pm ET
  • Channel: ESPN
  • Location: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida
  • Participants: New Orleans Saints (4-8) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-6)
  • Barstool Sportsbook Odds: Buccaneers -3 (-114), O/U 41

New Orleans Saints +3 (-107) at Barstool Sportsbook

The New Orleans Saints (4-8, 4-8 ATS) will limp into Monday Night Football currently tied for last place in the NFC South and losers in three of their last four games. Despite entering tonight’s contest fresh off a deflating 13-0 shutout loss at San Francisco last weekend, New Orleans remains very much in the mix for the division if they can pull off the upset under the lights.

Prior to New Orleans’ toothless 20-10 Week 2 loss at home against Tampa Bay, the Saints were undefeated in the regular season (4-0) against Tom Brady since the legendary quarterback made the switch and joined the Buccaneers ahead of the 2020 campaign. The Saints will now look to avoid a season sweep at the hands of Tampa Bay for the first time since 2007.

Diving into the injury report for tonight’s game, four Saints have already been ruled out with a key game-time decision also looming for New Orleans. TE Juwan Johnson, S PJ Williams, S JT Gray, and DE Payton Turner will all be sidelined against Tampa Bay, while superstar CB Marshon Lattimore is questionable with an abdominal injury. If the Saints wish to pull within one game of the first-place Buccaneers tonight, having Lattimore’s services would go a long way. If Lattimore does go, expect fireworks between him and Buccaneers WR Mike Evans, who have a long history of fights, ejections, and suspensions when they cross paths.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 (-114) with Barstool

It hasn’t been an ideal third season in Tampa Bay for QB Tom Brady, however the Buccaneers (5-6, 3-7-1 ATS) still somehow find themselves atop the NFC South and in position for a home playoff game if the season ended today. Tampa Bay can solidify its place in the playoff picture even further with a win over one of its greatest rivals tonight.

As mentioned above, New Orleans has been a major thorn in Tom Brady’s side ever since he entered the NFC South two and a half seasons ago. Brady is just 1-4 overall against the Saints in the regular season, with the team’s only win occurring back in Week 2 of this year. In addition to Brady’s struggles against the Saints, the future Hall of Famer has produced extremely poor results in primetime since becoming a member of the Bucs. Tampa Bay is just 2-11 ATS in 13 primetime games since Brady took over under center in 2020. Specifically when facing New Orleans on primetime as the Buccaneers QB, Brady is 0-3 both SU and ATS.

As far as injuries are concerned for the Buccaneers, T Tristan Wirfs has been ruled out with a foot injury sustained against the Browns and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Defensive backs Mike Edwards, Sean Murphy-Bunting, and Antoine Winfield Jr. are all listed as doubtful after little-to-no participation in practice all week, whereas Tampa Bay could get a major boost from a few key pieces on offense. On the other side of the football, RB Leonard Fournette, TE Cameron Brate, WR Russell Gage, and G Luke Goedeke are all deemed questionable but should be on track to play after fully participating in practice on Saturday.
