Chicago Bulls at Philadelphia 76ers game info
- Date: Friday, January 6, 2023
- Scheduled Tip-Off: 7:00pm Eastern
- Venue: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Teams: Chicago Bulls (17-21) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (23-14)
- bet365 Ohio Sportsbook Odds: 76ers -4.5, O/U 229.5
One of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference is slated to face off against a team on the fringe of making the play-in tournament as it currently stands. The 76ers are winners in 11 of their last 13 games, while Chicago is coming off arguably their biggest win of the season, beating a red-hot Nets team this past Wednesday.
Philadelphia 76ers -4.5 with bet365
While the 76ers are the five-seed in the Eastern Conference at the moment, they are just three games back of the one-seeded Boston Celtics.
In addition, the 76ers are finally starting to get healthy (kind of). A little over a month ago, they had an extended period without superstar Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey at the same time. Embiid returned, followed by Harden, and they strung together some wins to stay afloat. And after nearly a two-month absence, Maxey returned this past Monday to give a much-needed third scoring option alongside Philly’s two stars. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, Embiid is still dealing with some lingering effects from his foot injury and will miss tonight’s game against Chicago.
While Maxey has understandably looked rusty, offseason acquisition De’Anthony Melton is really starting to come into his own, scoring in double figures in four consecutive outings. The 76ers guards will certainly have their hands full against a backcourt featuring Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Ayo Dosunmu.
Chicago Bulls +4.5 at bet365 Sportsbook
The Bulls come into this game holding on as the Eastern Conference’s 10-seed. Although Chicago is just 38 games into it and still has plenty of time to turn it around, they’ve taken a big step back from where they were a year ago.
However, Chicago is just 3.5 games back of the New York Knicks, who are currently slotted in the 6-seed, which is where Chicago was seeded a year ago. DeMar DeRozan leads the way, averaging 26.6 points per game, which is 13th in the NBA. Two-time All-Star Zach LaVine complements him – LaVine is averaging 22.4 points per game, his lowest average with the Bulls since his first year on the team in 2017-18.
DeRozan and LaVine, along with Ayo Dosunmu, Coby White, and Goran Dragic form one of the deeper backcourts in all of basketball. Additionally, the frontcourt of Nikola Vucevic and Patrick Williams should be able to feast with Embiid absent for Philadelphia. All things considered, the Bulls could be looking at their second-straight impressive win tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.
