In order to place wagers on bet365, you must be at least 21 years or older. You also must be located within a state where bet365 is allowed (currently New Jersey, Colorado, Ohio, Iowa, or Virginia), although you can sign up for an account and even deposit or withdraw funds from elsewhere.

bet365 was the only sportsbook brand out of ten original applicants to not be approved by the New York Gaming Commission despite acquiring market access in the state through Empire Resorts and the Resorts World Catskills casino back in 2018. In order to move forward with their Empire State expansion plans, the company must wait until New York extends the total number of sports betting licenses in the state from nine to somewhere in the double-digits.

New Jersey

New Jersey, for a long time, was Bet365’s only active market in the United States. The brand arranged for market access in the Garden State through the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City, originally going online way back in August of 2019.

Colorado

In September 2022, bet365 obtained market access in the Centennial State after agreeing to a 10-year partnership deal with Century Casinos, the company behind the Century Casino Cripple Creek and Central City locations. The deal originally occurred back in May 2020.

With this partnership, bet365 Sportsbook officially became the 28th online sportsbook to launch in Colorado, a US high.

Virginia

Virginia launched sports betting on January 21st, 2022, but it was nearly a year before Bet365 entered the state. Bet365 VA accepted its first legal wagers on January 31, 2023.

By law, Virginia is allowed up to 12 mobile sportsbooks. bet365 Sportsbook is one of the 12 potential sportsbooks in the Old Dominion. Like in New Jersey, bet365 gained market access in VA through a partnership with Hard Rock Casino.

Ohio

Ohioans can now get in on the fun with bet365 Sportsbook, as the brand debuted in the Buckeye State on January 1, 2023. Bet365 Ohio operates in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Guardians.

Iowa

The Hawkeye state marked the third new state for bet365 in the first half of 2023. The global sportsbook is finally expanding its reach in the US. This is great news for everyone in Iowa, who now have access to the terrific bet365 mobile app. As of now the partnership in Iowa with Casino Queen Marquette is online-only.

Sportsbook basics: Key markets

While bet365 may lack for promotions, there is no shortage of betting options and sports on which you can wager. When it comes to types of bets available, you will find all of the standard ones, including:

  • Moneylines
  • Point spreads
  • Totals (over/under)
  • Teasers
  • Markets for halves, quarters, and periods
  • Alternative point spreads and totals
  • Parlays, including round-robin and other varieties
  • Same Game Parlays
  • Player, team, and game props
  • In-play betting
  • Futures

Within each of these betting types you’ll often find a wide range of options, in particular when it comes to in-play or live betting.

As with other sportsbooks, bet365 additionally offers a healthy amount of alternative bets (spreads and totals), adding a lot of variety to the wagers you can make on any particular contest.

We should also mention both the “Edit Bet” and “Cash Out” options on bet365. Edit Bet allows users to add, swap, or remove selections entirely, either for traditional pre-match bets, parlays, or in-play bets. When you edit your bet, the existing prices are automatically updated to reflect current odds rather than the price you originally took. Thus, if you make a bet and then see a better price come along, you can edit your bet and get the better price.

Cash Out (when available) also enables bettors to call an audible after a bet has been made, enabling them to cash out bets before an event concludes, either entirely or partially (leaving some money “on the table” and in play).

You’ll find as well a wide range of different sports upon which to place wagers, including:

  • Australian Rules Football
  • Baseball
  • Basketball (NBA, NCAA and European leagues)
  • Boxing
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • eSports
  • Football (NFL and NCAA)
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • Handball
  • Lacrosse
  • MMA
  • Motor Sports
  • Rugby
  • Snooker
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Table Tennis
  • Volleyball

Also available for wagering are several “virtual sports,” which involve fictitious software-generated players and teams with outcomes entirely dictated by random number generators. Available virtual sports include basketball, cricket, cycling, darts, football, greyhounds, harness racing, horse racing, soccer, speedway, stock cars, and tennis.

bet365 mobile app

The bet365 mobile app can be downloaded for free on both iOS and Android devices. Apple users can head over to the App Store, while those using an Android can get the app from Google Play. At the moment, there is only one general app out for all locations.

bet365 mobile app features Powered by the Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), the app is exceptionally smooth and fast, with its non-complicated design likely contributing to its speed when loading. We experienced no lags or frozen screens when testing, and in fact, when live betting and building a parlay we were able to open multiple live matches without any difficulties.

Once you do download the app, you’ll notice it isn’t terribly fancy in terms of aesthetics. Even so, you will also soon discover the design is highly intuitive and doesn’t introduce any extraneous complications that sometimes make navigating an online sportsbook difficult.

The opening screen does include small illustrations delivering shortcuts to each sport in the top bar, the only real ornament to the otherwise bland green, yellow, and gray color scheme. Choose your desired sport or scroll down to see highlighted games, then click through to get to the contests you are seeking.

There’s a handy “Sports” tab located on the bottom of the screen at all times, which upon clicking will pull up an alphabetical list of available sports markets. Also displayed along the bottom are four more tabs — Home (the home screen), Live In Game (for live betting), My Bets (your betting history) and Search (which allows you to type in team names or players to find them quicker).

In order to place any action, just click on a bet to place it in your Bet Slip, which will slide up from the bottom of the screen. When ready, click the slip, enter your stake(s), and hit submit to lock in your bet(s)! It’s that simple!

As further evidence of bet365’s international background, whether on the app or web-based platform, bettors can toggle between American, fractional, decimal, or American/fractional odds, and also set one of 20 different languages as a preference.

bet365 web-based platform

The web-based version of the bet365 online sportsbook is similarly focused on the business of betting without a lot of extraneous flash or frills.

Those accessing bet365 via their desktop computer or laptop will need to install a GeoComply plug-in for their browser. A link for the download is easy to spot along the top of the screen.

The design of the web-based platform smartly uses all of the extra space available on a wider computer screen, with a four-column layout featuring the list of sports on the left, current live/in-play betting and upcoming matches in the center, and the player’s bet slip accompanied by available promotions on the right.

Along the top ruler (starting on the left and extending over to the right) are quick links to the full list of available sports markets, in-play betting options, the bet365 casino, ongoing bonuses and promotions, help and support options, and information about responsible gaming.

When looking at the in-play tab, you’ll find a similar-looking three-column layout that also includes the ability to ‘star” or designate your favorite sports or contests, thus customizing the left-most column to highlight games in which you are focusing on. Again, as with the mobile app, most live games on bet365 will have Gamecast-esque animations to help you track the action.

Pricing and lines at bet365

When checking out the pricing and lines offered at bet365, you’ll discover the majority of spreads and totals are similar to what is found at other U.S. sportsbooks. There are exceptions here and there, but most of these are set at -110.

Moneylines vary a bit more, often depending on the sport. We’ve found, for example, that baseball moneylines are often on the generous side, while moneylines in football seem to tilt the other way. As always, odds are subject to change.

Overall, when it comes to pricing, live in-play betting is where bet365 really shines, a reflection of the company’s significant bookmaking experience. For those who are serious about live betting, getting the best possible price is a major advantage and almost necessary at this point – and bet365 certainly offers that.

More about bet365

bet365 first launched in the United States in New Jersey in August 2019 with the Hard Rock Hotel Casino Atlantic City as its retail partner.

Back in 2018, bet365 partnered with Empire Resorts and the Resorts World Catskills casino in New York for their retail sportsbook, with plans to open an online sportsbook as soon as the brand was accepted by the New York Gaming Commission as a licensed operator. Among the original ten finalists, bet365 was the only brand not given approval by the state and must now wait until New York expands the total number of available licenses. The original deal was a 20-year partnership between bet365 and Empire Resorts, so even if it does take New York a while to do so, bet365 will be there and ready when the time comes.

Beyond their New York aspirations, the brand already obtained market access in Colorado through a deal with Century Casinos back in May 2020, and has since launched in September 2022.

In addition, bet365 Sportsbook has also gained market access in Virginia, Ohio, and Iowa. This is all just the beginning for bet365 in the United States, as many more potential state markets await.
