  • Place a wager of $10 on any market or bet type on BetMGM for Thursday Night Football Chiefs-Chargers

BetMGM Special Offer: Things You Need to Know

Free bets are promotional giveaways that sportsbooks like BetMGM use to entice bettors to join their book. It’s best to think of free bets as a token or store credit that you can use for your wagers. As such, you cannot withdraw your free bet tokens. The $200 free promotion will yield four separate $50 bet credits.

Instead of using real money, bettors can use free bets to wager on games. If you win the bet, the initial stake is not returned as a part of any winnings. Let’s go over an example: you use $50 of your $200 from your Bet $10 Get $200 offer on a +100 bet. A winning $50 wager with “free bets” at +100 will only earn a $50 total payday (unlike the usual $100 when using real money).

This promotion is only available for new BetMGM customers, aged 21+, and located inside of a legal betting state. Use BetMGM bonus code: HANDLE during registration to secure the offer. Free bet tokens expire after 7 days.

Why the Chiefs can cover the -4.5 on BetMGM

The Chiefs have, arguably, been the best team in football since Patrick Mahomes took over as their quarterback in 2018. With Mahomes as the quarterback in that span, the Chiefs are 51-13 and have made the past four AFC championships.

As dominant as Mahomes and Chiefs are against the league, they’re even more dominant against their division. In his career, Mahomes is 21-3 against the AFC West with a +278 point differential, which is good for an 11.5 point margin of victory per game. Mahomes passing yards line is currently set at a juicy 295.5 yards on BetMGM for those interested in betting on Thursday Night Football.

Despite losing Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs still boast the dynamic trio of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid. In addition, the Chiefs may be transitioning to a more balanced attack. Against the Cardinals last week the Chiefs ran for 131 yards, averaging over 4.8 yards per carry.

Although the defense isn’t necessarily a stout unit, it had an impressive showing last week. The KC defense held Arizona to a measly 4.5 yards per play, including just 179 passing yards on the day.

In terms of matching up against Los Angeles, things got a little easier when star wideout Keenan Allen was ruled out earlier in the week after tweaking his hamstring in the opener. This could be a big blow for a Chargers offense that isn’t incredibly dynamic on the perimeter.

BetMGM Sportsbook has Patrick Mahomes listed at +500 for MVP.

LA Chargers +4.5 with BetMGM Sportsbook

For experienced bettors, the 4.5 points may be setting off alarm bells. 4.5 is one of the many critical numbers regarding spread betting. In the NFL, games are much closer than college football, and getting through the numbers 3 and 4 in a tight divisional game could prove pivotal towards a winning ticket.

And for as good as Patrick Mahomes is, giving Justin Herbert over four points seems like an awful lot. Through two seasons, Herbert has 9,350 yards and 69 touchdowns, both NFL records, as well as taking home NFL Rookie of the Year honors in 2020. In addition, Herbert is a sharp 2-0 against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. You can bet the over/under for Herbert’s yards (282.5), touchdowns (1.5), and passing attempts (38.5), among many other markets on BetMGM Sportsbook.

And for as dominant as the offense should be, the Chargers’ defense may be just as scary. In his highly anticipated debut, former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack produced 3.0 sacks, four QB hits, one forced fumble and five tackles, including three for loss against Las Vegas. The duo of Joey Bosa and Mack off the edge should prove to be one of the league’s best.

Even though Keenan Allen will not be suiting up for the boys in powder blue, what the Chargers will be rolling out on Thursday may be enough. Although Mike Williams was disappointing last week, he has shown he’s a threat each time he plays against the Chiefs. Williams has surpassed 100+ receiving yards in two of his previous three meetings against KC.

In addition, 2021 3rd round selection Joshua Palmer should assume a much more significant role. Allen missed one game in 2021 – in that game, Palmer produced five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown, along with a team-high seven targets. His receiving yard prop is set at 46.5 yards with BetMGM.

BetMGM currently has Justin Herbert’s MVP odds at +700.
