How to Claim Your BetMGM $1K Risk-Free Bet

Claiming your new-user welcome bonus at BetMGM is a total breeze. As long as you are a first-time player located in a BetMGM state and are at least 21 years old, you should be good to go.

The first step in claiming your $1,000 Risk-Free Bet is to sign up for a new account with BetMGM using the bonus code HANDLETOP. By clicking on that link, the offer will automatically be applied to your account.

After filling out the necessary personal information and wrapping up the sign-up process, break in your new account with a first-time deposit of at least $10 or more. Be sure to deposit as much as you are willing to place on your promotional wager.

Once your bankroll is loaded up, take those funds to the sportsbook and place a $10+ wager on any college football market offered by BetMGM. If you prefer to bet on NBA, NHL, or college basketball, that works too – the bonus can be claimed while wagering on any BetMGM market.

What happens if my BetMGM Risk-Free Bet loses?

If your bet unfortunately settles as a loss, have no fear! Instead of taking home nothing, BetMGM will give you a chance at new life with a 100% refund in the form of free bet credits. Eligible users can expect to receive this payout within 24 hours of bet settlement.

If your lost stake was equal to $50 or less, BetMGM will distribute one single-use free bet token. If your wager exceeded $50, your free bet will be divided up into five tokens worth 20% of the initial stake. For example, a $100 loss would return five individual $20 free bets.

All free bets must be used within 7 days or they will be removed from your account. If you happen to cash any wagers using a free bet, please note that while any winnings are yours to keep, the value of the free bet will not be included in the return.

College Football Bowl Schedule: Saturday 12/17

  • 11:00am ET – Wasabi Fenway Bowl: Cincinnati Bearcats vs Louisville Cardinals (ESPN)
  • 2:30pm ET – SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl: Florida vs No. 14 Oregon State (ESPN)
  • 3:30pm ET – Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl Presented by Stifel: Washington St vs Fresno St (ABC)
  • 5:45pm ET – LendingTree Bowl: Rice vs Southern Mississippi (ESPN)
  • 7:30pm ET – New Mexico Bowl: SMU vs BYU (ABC)
  • 9:15pm ET – Frisco Bowl Presented by SERVPRO: North Texas vs Boise State (ESPN)

Wasabi Fenway Bowl: Cincinnati (+2) vs Louisville (39.5)

The first bowl game on Saturday’s loaded card is arguably the most intriguing of them all, as the Cincinnati Bearcats will take on the Louisville Cardinals at 11:00am ET in the first-ever edition of the Wasabi Fenway Bowl following last year’s cancellation. The biggest storyline involving this heated matchup is undoubtably ex-Louisville HC Scott Satterfield switching sides and leaving the program to become the 43rd head coach at Cincinnati after Luke Fickell recently departed for Wisconsin. Former Purdue HC Jeff Brohm was quickly hired to replace Satterfield at Louisville, but will be taking this game in as a bystander as interim head coach Deion Branch attempts to guide the Cardinals to a bowl victory over Cincy. Branch will need to do so without superstar QB Malik Cunningham, who recently declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and will skip the game. Junior QB Brock Domann gets the start under center for the Cardinals.

SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl: Florida (+10) vs No. 14 Oregon State (52.5)

Next up at 2:30pm ET on ESPN is another eye-catching matchup between the Florida Gators and the No. 14 Oregon State Beavers. These two sides will enter Saturday’s Las Vegas Bowl at Allegiant Stadium trending in polar opposite directions as Oregon State seeks out its fourth consecutive win, and the Gators look to shake off the rust from back-to-back losses to Vanderbilt and Florida State. Generally speaking, Florida was a massive disappointment in HC Billy Napier’s first season leading the program and clearly let go of the ropes as the season went on. To add insult to injury, the Gators will also be without star QB Anthony Richardson against Oregon State, who decided to skip Florida’s bowl game in preparation for the 2023 NFL Draft. As a result, Florida comes in as a double-digit underdog against the Beavers looking to avoid a bowl loss for the third consecutive season.

Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl: Washington State (+4) vs Fresno State (53)

Kicking off at 3:30pm ET on ABC is another one of Saturday’s better bowl games, a west coast showdown at SoFi Stadium between the Washington State Cougars and the Fresno State Bulldogs. After starting the season 1-4 overall, Fresno State rallied all the way back to finish 9-4 and will enter the LA Bowl on an impressive eight-game winning streak. Washington State also finished its 2022 campaign on a high note, winning three of its final four contests to earn bowl eligibility for the second consecutive year under HC Jake Dickert. This matchup will undoubtably feature the best quarterback duel of the entire afternoon, as both Cameron Ward and Jake Haener will be under center for their respective teams. Fresno State is rightfully listed as a 4-point favorite over Wazzou, but buyer beware: Fresno State is 0-2 against the Pac-12 this season with losses to Oregon State at home (35-32) and USC on the road (45-17).

Lending Tree Bowl: Rice (+6.5) vs Southern Mississippi (45.5)

The LendingTree Bowl is set for 5:45pm ET at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama and features a former Conference USA rivalry reborn as the Rice Owls take on the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. After 26 seasons as a member of Conference USA, Southern Mississippi made the switch to the Sun Belt Conference this season, finishing 6-6 overall and qualifying for a bowl game for the first time since 2019. The Golden Eagles will coincidentally face off against the Rice Owls, a team that they’ve crossed paths with in each of the last eight seasons and 12 times since 2007 as members of Conference USA. The all-time series is currently tied with both teams sitting at 6-6 against one another, so tread lightly if considering laying the points in this one.

New Mexico Bowl: SMU (-3.5) vs BYU (64.5)

Headlining the late window of Saturday’s slate is none other than the New Mexico Bowl, which will air on ABC at 7:30pm ET from University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This one will feature a pair of 7-5 teams in the SMU Mustangs and BYU Cougars squaring off in what should be one to watch. Both sides finished the 2022 season incredibly strong to lock up bowl eligibility, as BYU picked up road wins at Boise State and Stanford during its ongoing three-game winning streak, while SMU enters the New Mexico Bowl a winner in four of its last five games. The Mustangs will unfortunately be without superstar WR Rashee Rice in this one as the senior standout recently declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. On the opposing sideline, BYU will likely turn to third-string quarterback Cade Fennegan following an injury to starter Jaren Hall and backup Jacob Conover’s transfer to Arizona State.

Frisco Bowl Presented by SERVPRO: North Texas (+10.5) vs Boise State (59.5)

Wrapping up this tremendous night of bowl mania is the Frisco Bowl Presented by SERVPRO between the North Texas Mean Green and the Boise State Broncos. The game will take place at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas and kick off at 9:15pm ET on ESPN. HC Andy Avalos’ Broncos will look to shake off the rust from their Mountain West Championship loss to Fresno State after finishing the regular season undefeated in conference play. A win at the Frisco Bowl would not only mark the first bowl victory for Boise under Avalos, but also the program’s first since 2017. Following the recent firing of seven-year head coach Seth Littrell, the Mean Green will turn to former SMU head coach Phil Bennett to lead them into battle against the Broncos. Oddly enough, this spot is somewhat of familiar territory for Bennett, as he guided the 2010 Pittsburgh Panthers to a win at the BBVA Compass Bowl over Kentucky in place of Dave Wannstedt.
