The first of two highly-anticipated postseason matchups taking place today will kick off at 3:00pm ET from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park and pit the defending AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals against the hungry Buffalo Bills.
As most football fans can recall, these two sides last met back in Week 17 in Cincinnati for the final rendition of Monday Night Football during the 2022-23 regular season. The Bengals jumped out to an early 7-3 lead thanks to a 14-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to Tyler Boyd, however the game was eventually suspended after Bills S Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after tackling Bengals WR Tee Higgins. Thankfully for all parties involved, Hamlin made a remarkable recovery and is now back with the team while his condition continues to improve every single day.
Now that Hamlin is in stable condition, both teams can hopefully put that scare behind them and compete at a high level later this afternoon. Buffalo enters the Divisional Round coming off a 34-31 nail-biter against the division rival Miami Dolphins, while Cincinnati managed to escape its own division rival in the Baltimore Ravens with a final score of 24-17.
The Bengals did, however, suffer a few key injuries in the process of punching their ticket to the next round. Cincinnati will be down a pair of starters on its offensive line when they take on the Bills, as both LT Jonah Williams and RG Alex Cappa have been officially ruled out.
