Celtics are the Best Team in the NBA
After suffering a season-high three-game losing streak, the Celtics have turned it around this week, winning their past two, including a 43-point victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
Coming into this matchup, the C’s boast the best record in the NBA at 37-15, having been lethal in TD Garden, where Boston is 20-6, which is tied for the third-most wins at home in the NBA.
The Celtics are out for blood this season – after coming off a devastating loss in the NBA Finals, Boston has improved from a year ago. The Celtics are 2nd in the NBA in scoring per game, averaging 118.2 points per game. Jayson Tatum has solidified himself as one of the league’s best young stars. Jaylen Brown is averaging a career-high 27.0 points per game.
Suns Without Devin Booker
There was a point during this year when the Suns were riding high and on the verge of running it back as the top seed in the Western Conference. But since Devin Booker suffered a groin injury over a month ago, the Suns have gone 9-15 in his absence.
The Suns have struggled to find consistent production on the offensive end. This was evident on Wednesday night when they fell to the Atlanta Hawks, 132-100, at home on ESPN. It was one of the more embarrassing losses for Phoenix this season.
But maybe that was just a hiccup? Despite their struggles without Booker, the Suns have won six of their last eight games. They’ve been very efficient on the defensive end of the floor.
They will undoubtedly have their work cut out against arguably the league’s top offense.
Potential NBA Finals Matchup?
The Suns had an embarrassing exit in last year’s playoffs, losing a home game seven matchup to the Dallas Mavericks by 33 points in the Western Conference semifinals. The Suns haven’t looked nearly as dynamic as a year ago, but reports have indicated that Devin Booker could be eyeing a return as soon as next Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets.
With Devin Booker in the lineup, the Suns have proven to be a legitimate contender in a wide-open Western Conference this season.
On the other side, the Eastern Conference is Boston’s to lose. Although Milwaukee and Philadelphia have the looks of formidable opponents that could knock them off, Boston is certainly the favorite to come out of the East.
