“The Emperor” is again ready to conquer a new land at the start of a new year.
Having made a successful and lasting impact in the state of New York in 2022 with the most aggressive sports wagering promotional offer of the post-PASPA era, Caesars Sportsbook is hoping for similar success starting at midnight Sunday when Ohio goes live with the biggest simultaneous mobile sportsbook launch in U.S. history.
Caesars Sportsbook Ohio Welcome Offer
Caesars wowed the public and sports wagering industry alike last year with its offers of a $300 free bet and deposit matches up to $3,000 for new signups. Though it ceded the No. 1 spot in weekly handle to FanDuel by the end of January, the early blitz provided a vital kickstart for Caesars that kept the sportsbook in the minds and wallets of bettors in the Empire State.
Caesars generated nearly $2.8 billion handle and more than $211 million in operator revenue through 51 weeks, according to the New York State Gaming Commission, ranking a very strong third behind FanDuel and DraftKings in both categories among the nine operators conducting business.
Claiming market share in Ohio, however, could prove to be a bigger challenge. A whopping 16 digital platforms have been approved by the Ohio Casino Control Commission to begin accepting bets at midnight Sunday, topping the 10 the Michigan Gaming Control Board approved prior to launch in the Wolverine State on Jan. 22, 2021.
How Caesars distinguishes itself from other operators in Ohio early will go a long way toward determining its staying power in a state expected to quickly mature into a top-seven or potentially top-five market for handle. And its pre-registration and go-live offers have the ability to create such separation.
So what is Caesars offering Ohio bettors?

Caesars Sportsbook Ohio Pre-Registration Offer | |
---|---|
Caesars Ohio Promo Code | HANDLETIX |
Caesars Sportsbook OH Pre-Launch Bonus | Deposit $20, Get $100 in Bet Credits |
Caesars Sportsbook OH Extra | Free Cleveland Cavaliers Ticket Raffle |
Caesars OH T&C | 21+, Ohio Only, $100 in Bet Credits Issued After Launch |
There is still time, though it ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on Saturday, for Ohio bettors to take advantage of a pre-registration offer from Caesars. New users who register, sign up, and make a minimum $20 deposit with the promo code HANDLETIX before midnight Sunday will receive $100 in bet credits upon launch Sunday. That signup also enters bettors into a weekly drawing for Cleveland Cavaliers tickets.
Once the clock strikes midnight, Caesars Sportsbook will then offer its “Go-Live” promotion, in which bettors can receive up to a $1,500 bet credit if that first bet loses. Bettors who register using our promo code (stay tuned) can place a first wager of any size, and Caesars will provide a bet credit equal to the first bet up to $1,500 if that initial wager does not win.
The midnight Sunday launch offers Ohio bettors time to ponder wagers for Week 17 NFL action, which includes the Cleveland Browns trying to play the role of spoiler against the Washington Commanders. On Monday night, the Cincinnati Bengals face the Buffalo Bills and could have the opportunity to clinch the AFC North and tighten the race for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Action in those two games, though, may pale in comparison to the potential wagering on Ohio State in the College Football Playoff championship game scheduled for Jan. 9 at SoFi Stadium in California should the Buckeyes get past top-seeded Georgia in the semifinals Saturday night prior to launch. An 8 p.m. ET kickoff offers a very minute possibility of live wagering on that contest, which would likely need multiple overtimes to reach midnight.
