The Sunday night meeting of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins may not have quite the import of their 1972 AFC Championship game clash, but it’s nonetheless critical for both teams.
The 50th anniversary of that magical perfect season of the 1972 Dolphins is to be celebrated as part of game festivities at Hard Rock Stadium, but the present-day participants can be forgiven for a different focus β like on winning this next game to get their playoff hopes on track.
As with any prime-time contest, plenty of betting on the outcome β and on player props β is expected, and for any newcomers doing that,Β Caesars Sportsbook has an excellent offer worth considering. New customers can take advantage of its First Bet on Caesars up to $1250 offer any time prior to kickoff at 8:20 p.m. Sunday. (The offer is also available for other first bets with Caesars, including the rest of Sunday’s NFL slate.)
For new sports bettors, Caesars will refund a first bet of up to $1,250 β if it loses β with an equivalent amount of bet credits deposited in the customer’s account. All you need to do is use our Sports Handle Caesars promo code HANDLEFULL to ensure you receive your offer.
Below are details of the offer along with analysis of the Steelers-Dolphins matchup and its betting options.

But if that initial bet loses, Caesars will refund your stake in the form of a single-use bonus credit up to $1,250. In addition, Caesars will add 1,000 Reward Credits and 1,000 Tier Credits to your Caesars account.

Steelers @ Dolphins Game Preview
- Date: Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022
- Channel: NBC
- Start Time: 8:20 p.m. ET
- Location: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
- Caesars Sportsbook Odds: Dolphins -7, o/u 45
Miami enters the game 3-3, with three straight losses, while Pittsburgh is 2-4 after pulling off one of its more remarkable regular-season upsets. Part of the big news for both teams Sunday night involves starting quarterbacks and concussions.
Tua Tagovailoa is planning to be back under center for the Dolphins for the first time since getting knocked out of a Sept. 29 game in Cincinnati with a head injury. While he was in concussion protocol, Miami lost to the Bengals, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings. Last weekend’s 24-16 loss to Minnesota snapped an eight-game home winning streak for Miami.
For the Steelers, rookie Kenny Pickett was in just his second game as a starter last week when he suffered a head injury of his own. Replacing him, Mitch Trubisky led the offense on strong second-half drives that resulted in a 20-18 home victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the Steelers were 10-point underdogs.
Pickett has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to be starting again Sunday night, joined by several other Steelers who missed the Bucs game with concussions or other injuries. That includes Minkah Fitzpatrick, a former Dolphin with three interceptions this year, but oddsmakers still don’t like their chances.
Caesars makes Miami a 7-point favorite and even considers the Dolphins the stronger option at that number by making the vig -115 on them, versus -105 to take the Steelers. On the moneyline, the Dolphins are -335 and Steelers +260.
The points total is around the middle of the pack for this week’s games, at over/under 45.
With Tagovailoa back and a range of weapons available to him from the speedy Tyreek Hill on down, the Steelers defense will be challenged to rise to the occasion as it did against Tom Brady and avoid the kind of shellacking that Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills applied in a 38-3 game in Buffalo two weeks ago. The Dolphins averaged 27.7 points in their first three games, with Tagovailoa among the league’s leading passers, but just 16 points in their last three.
Special betting options abound
Some bettors like sticking to the straightforward pre-game betting options, but many newcomers may also be attracted by wide-ranging other markets that Caesars offers on individual player performance, known as prop bets.
For instance, a bet can be made on whether a player will score a touchdown in the game, with Hill deemed the most likely to do so, priced at -103 (or +440 to score the game’s first TD, another option). For the Steelers, running back Najee Harris is the top option for that, at +155 for an anytime TD and +625 to cross the goal line first in the game.
Harris has had a tough start to the year while dealing with foot injuries, and Caesars offers a bet on his rushing yards total at over/under 46.5, with -108 to bet the over and -127 to bet the under. Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert is higher, at 63.5 (-137 to bet over, +100 to bet under).
And Hill, the Dolphins’ big offseason acquisition, has a receiving yards o/u of 80.5, with -133 on the over and -103 on the under.
Before the game starts, plenty of other options on team and individual performance will be available. Just remember, if betting on the game, use Caesars Sportsbook promo code HANDLEFULL to get started.
