Actor Jerry Ferrara, who gained attention as “Turtle” in the HBO series Entourage, is getting involved in sports betting media and marketing.

He joins a growing list of actors/entertainers partnering with sportsbooks. Ferrara will serve as a celebrity brand ambassador for BetMGM and will be part of the sports betting company’s weekly sports podcast, Unleashed. He’ll be involved in fan events and will also be featured in a BetMGM marketing campaign.

“As a diehard sports fan, I couldn’t be more excited about legalized sports betting and having the opportunity to partner with an industry leader like BetMGM,” Ferrara said in a BetMGM press release. “It’s an honor to be the first BetMGM ambassador to co-host Unleashed and I’m excited to share my passion and knowledge with fellow sports fans.”

Ferrara already hosts the Bad 4 Business podcast in which he interviews athletes and actors.

“Jerry Ferrara is a talented actor and a passionate sports fan,” said BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost. “Together we’ll create fun, unique content for our podcast and other BetMGM-related opportunities that we believe sports fans will love.”

ESPN adds Loza to fantasy, sports betting teams

Former Yahoo! Sports staff member Liz Loza has joined the ESPN fantasy and sports betting teams, according to ESPN Press Room.

Loza, a Brown University graduate, recently reached a multi-year deal with ESPN and will be a regular contributor who will provide weekly columns and picks and will appear on Fantasy Football Now, Fantasy Focus Football, and Daily Wager, among other shows.

“I am thrilled to join ESPN’s best-in-class team of fantasy and betting analysts,” said Loza, as shared in the ESPN Press Room report. “Collectively collaborating and creating content with this esteemed group — and for such an expansive and loyal fanbase — is an absolute honor. Be warned that I’m buying the dip on Cam Akers, and am always ready to bet on an underdog.”

Betting anchors new radio format in Providence

To think that sports betting isn’t mainstream, well, think again. A radio station in Providence, Rhode Island, that previously offered listeners a news/talk and business format recently changed to focus on sports and sports betting.

The station, 790 The Score/WPRV-AM, has revealed a daily lineup consisting of shows such as Bet QL Daily, You Better You Bet, and Bet MGM Tonight. Twelve hours of daily programming are dedicated to talk shows with sports betting as the focal point.

“It’s official, 790 The Score is now Providence’s best bet for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Holly Paras, the station’s vice president/marketing manager, according to Radio Ink. “The station features a lineup of expert personalities that deliver unique sports talk and sports betting insights that entertain, inform, and engage, along with New England Patriots football, New York Yankee baseball, Boston Celtics basketball, and Brown University football and basketball play-by-play. We think Providence sports and sports betting fans will love 790 The Score.”

The time when talking about wagering on sports took place privately more than publicly is clearly a thing of the past.
