Tempo, Tempo, Tempo
This over/under may seem a tad high for mainstream basketball fans. After all, Alabama and Arkansas are two of the best defensive teams in the land. However, for diehard college basketball fans and SEC enthusiasts, they may be familiar with each teamβs frenetic pace.
According to KenPom, Alabama and Arkansas rank as the 3rd and 56th teams (out of 363 DI teams) in adjusted tempo, which measures the number of offensive possessions per 40 minutes of play. Alabama head coach Nate Oats has always deployed a fast uptempo, offensive brand of basketball that is meant to speed up his opponent.
Although it can lead to erratic play, it has helped Alabama pick up several signature wins. If Arkansas wants to pull off the upset, they will need to take great care of the basketball and try their best to limit Alabamaβs high-octane offense.
Brandon Miller vs. Ricky Council IV
NBA fans of potential lottery teams may have already familiarized themselves with 6β9β wing Brandon Miller, a frontrunner for SEC Player of the Year.
As a freshman, Miller averages 19.1 points per game and 8.5 rebounds. According to NBADraft.net, Miller is slated as the number three prospect in this upcoming draft behind Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson. In most years, Miller would have a lot of consideration for the top pick – heβs going to make for one of the best consolation prizes in years.
On the other side, Arkansas is led by Ricky Council IV, another potential SEC Player of the Year candidate. Council IV has improved his points per game average from 7.1 to 12.0 to a career-high 18.1 points per game this season.
The 6β6β wing is one of the most explosive players in college basketball. Him and Miller duking it out should make for a real treat.

Alabama Boasts One of the Best Resumes in the Country
As we alluded to above, Alabama has many top-tier wins that should put them in contention for one of the four number-one seeds in March.
In non-conference play, the Crimson Tide were able to rack up wins against Michigan State, North Carolina, Memphis, and arguably the best win of the entire college basketball season, on the road at Houston.
In addition, Alabama has already tallied impressive wins in conference play at Mississippi State and a blowout win over Kentucky. A win tonight would be another signature win for Oats and his squad.
Arkansas Undefeated at Bud Walton
Bud Walton Arena has always been one of the most challenging venues to go in and win in the nation. On the season, the Razorbacks are 9-0 at home, winning by an average margin of nearly 20 points per game.Β
But Alabama will easily be Arkansasβ toughest test at home yet. With a win tonight, the Razorbacks can move back to .500 in SEC play.
