Kansas Jayhawks at Iowa State Cyclones Preview
- Date: Saturday, February 4, 2023
- Tip-off: 12:00 pm ET
- TV Coverage: ESPN
- Location: James H. Hilton Coliseum, Ames, IowaΒ
- Participants: No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks (18-4) vs. No. 13 Iowa State Cyclones (15-6)
- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Kansas -1.5, O/U 136
To kick off the action, we head to Ames, Iowa, where the Cyclones will look to seek revenge after suffering a brutal 62-60 loss at Allen Fieldhouse three weeks ago. Iowa State comes into this contest ranked 13th in the nation, but they had a devastating loss on Monday night when Texas Tech overcame a 23-point second-half deficit to win in overtime.Β
After this loss, the Cyclones have now lost three of their last four. They will look to get right against the cream of the crop in the Big 12 in Kansas.
The Jayhawks are the defending national champions and are hitting their stride at the right time. After suffering three straight losses, Kansas is righting the ship with two huge wins over Kentucky and Kansas State in the past week.Β
Guard Jalen Wilson is among the top candidates for National Player of the Year honors. Wilson is averaging 21.3 points per game, along with 8.5 rebounds. Another win for the Jayhawks would be an additional feather in their cap.
Texas Longhorns at Kansas Wildcats Preview
- Date: Saturday, February 4, 2023
- Tip-off: 4:00 pm ET
- TV Coverage: ESPN2
- Location: Bramlage Coliseum, Manhattan, Kansas
- Participants: No. 10 Texas Longhorns (18-4) vs. No. 7 Kansas State Wildcats (18-4)
- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Kansas State -1, O/U 149.5
In the afternoon, we have a clash between the Big 12βs best and the following best. Texas is in 1st place in the brutal conference, followed by Kansas State, who is in a four-way tie for 2nd place.
The Longhorns are winners of five of their last seven, including wins over Baylor, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and TCU. Texas has some of the best guard play in the country, led by Marcus Carr and Tyrese Hunter.
These guards will definitely have their hands full against one of the countryβs top backcourts in Florida transfer Keyontae Johnson and Markquis Nowell. Johnson and Nowell average a combined 35.3 points per game and 10.1 assists per game. Nowell is one of the countryβs best distributors, while Johnson can score with the best of them.
Have your popcorn ready for this one, as plenty of elite guard play and offense will be on display.
