Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls PreviewΒ
- Date: Monday, January 23, 2023
- Start Time: 8:00 pm ET
- TV Channel: NBA TV
- Location: United Center, Chicago, Illinois
- Participants: Atlanta Hawks (24-23) vs. Chicago Bulls (21-24)
- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Bulls -1, O/U 238.5
Only two games separate the Bulls and Hawks, the Eastern Conferenceβs 10-seed and 8-seed, respectively.Β
Coming into this season, each team had high aspirations, but neither has met expectations. However, both Chicago and Atlanta have started to turn a corner. The Bulls are winners of two straight – each by at least 14 points, with one of the wins coming against the defending champion, Golden State Warriors. The Hawks have won five of their last six but are coming off a brutal loss to the Charlotte Hornets.Β
One of the biggest storylines of the NBA offseason was the gelling of Trae Young and offseason acquisition Dejounte Murray. Murray came over from San Antonio and had a rocky start to the season, with plenty of criticism to follow. But the Young-Murray backcourt has slowly but surely become one of the league’s best.
Murray is playing almost exclusively off the ball, while Young is handling the point guard duties, and that fit is paying off massive dividends. Murray has scored 26+ in each of his last five games.Β
On the other side, Chicago is returning after traveling overseas as they decisively handled the Pistons in the NBAβs Paris Game, winning 126-108. This will be only the Bullsβ third game in the last nine days as they recover from the European trip.
DeMar DeRozan has been a steady producer, but the recent play of Nikola Vucevic has helped elevate the level of play from the Bulls. Vucevic has reached double-digit rebounds in ten straight contests.
Memphis Grizzlies at Sacramento Kings PreviewΒ
- Date: Monday, January 23, 2023
- Start Time: 10:30 pm ET
- TV Channel: NBA TV
- Location: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California
- Participants: Memphis Grizzlies (31-15) at Sacramento Kings (26-19)
- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Grizzlies -1, O/U 245.5
The Kings have sneakily climbed up the Western Conference standings and sit as the three-seed (!) coming into tonightβs loaded matchup.
Imagine typing that before the season; the Kings are your three-seed in a stacked Western Conference. But to their credit, they have the look of a real, pesky threat for the playoffs. The Kings currently rank as the top team in the NBA in scoring, averaging a ridiculous 120 points per game. Although DeβAaron Fox has played at an elite level, the supporting cast has taken the Kings to new heights. The Kings currently have six players averaging at least 12 points per game. Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, and Keegan Murray have all proven to be key additions this past offseason.
The Grizzlies currently boast the third-best record in the NBA at 31-15. Despite their high efficiency on the offensive and defensive sides of the floor, they havenβt been nearly as dynamic away from home. The Grizz are just 11-12 away from FedExForum.
Can the Kings continue to outperform preseason expectations and beat a Grizzlies team right on the doorstep of the Western Conferenceβs top seed?
