Baltimore Ravens -1.5 on FanDuel
HC John Harbaugh and his Baltimore Ravens (5-3, 3-4-1 ATS) will enter tonight’s game with a bit of extra rest under their belts having last played on Thursday Night Football in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Baltimore will now play in its second consecutive road game on primetime, once again taking on an NFC South foe in the New Orleans Saints. The Ravens also enters tonight’s game as winners in three of their last four contests.
Baltimore did struggle a bit early on in last week’s 27-22 win over Tampa Bay, trailing at halftime before outscoring the Bucs in the second half, 24-12. The win advanced Baltimore to 3-1 overall on the road in 2022, with their only loss coming in the final minutes of their Week 6 battle against the New York Giants. It will be interesting to see if the rest advantage will give the Ravens a boost in their second straight game away from home – a spot they have yet to experience this season.
Historically speaking, holding a rest advantage hasn’t been a massive factor for Harbaugh-coached units. Since Harbaugh took over as the Ravens’ head coach in 2008, the team is just 22-21-1 ATS when playing with extra rest over their opponent. That number gets even worse when looking into the last few seasons, specifically since Lamar Jackson took over as the team’s starting quarterback in 2018. Since then, Baltimore is just 4-9 ATS when playing with a rest advantage.
New Orleans Saints +1.5 with FanDuel Sportsbook
The New Orleans Saints (3-5, 3-5 ATS) are officially back in the mix after last week’s impressive 24-0 shutout victory at home over the Las Vegas Raiders. The win not only helped snap a two-game losing streak for New Orleans, but also has put the team in position to tie the Buccaneers and Falcons for first place in the NFC South with a win tonight over the Ravens.
It was an all-around encouraging performance by QB Andy Dalton and company, who will remain the team’s starting quarterback moving forward despite Jameis Winston’s return from injury. Now that RB Alvin Kamara will be standing pat following the NFL’s trade deadline and the rest of New Orleans’ roster can start to get healthy, expect the Saints to make a playoff push from here on out following the team’s rocky start.
Baltimore will be without top playmakers in WR Rashod Bateman, TE Mark Andrews, RB Gus Edwards, and RB JK Dobbins this time around, three of which suited up and saw the field in last week’s win over Tampa Bay. Winning on the road in the NFL is already tough enough as it is, and doing so while undermanned should be a daunting task for Lamar Jackson and his offense. With that being said, ride the momentum and back this Saints defense to deliver a win in the Dome for the second time in as many weeks.
