Raiders vs Chiefs betting preview
Tonight’s edition of Monday Night Football will involve two teams headed down two very different paths to begin the 2022 regular season. It’ll be first-year HC Josh McDaniels’ Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) heading into Arrowhead Stadium to take on Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the soaring Kansas City Chiefs (3-1).
FanDuel Sportsbook currently has Kansas City listed as a 7-point favorite for tonight’s matchup, available at -114. Las Vegas backers can snag the Raiders +7 at -106, while LV moneyline is up for grabs at a whopping +280. The game total clocks in at 51.5 points, with the over set at -114.
Raiders +7 (-106) with FanDuel Sportsbook
Raiders HC Josh McDaniels is already in need of a major turnaround within the first six weeks of his tenure in Las Vegas following the team’s 1-3 start to the 2022 season. The Raiders finally got into the win column in Week 4 as they took down the lowly Denver Broncos at home, 32-23, but still have a lot of work to do in order to meet the high expectations set by a series of flashy offseason acquisitions.
While McDaniels and the rest of Raider Nation would’ve hoped for a much better start to begin the new campaign, Las Vegas’ 1-3 record doesn’t really tell the whole story of their season. The Raiders suffered three incredibly close losses to potential playoff teams in the Chargers, Cardinals, and Titans – two of which occurred on the road, and all of which came down to the final possession.
The Raiders currently rank Top 10 in the NFL in terms of scoring, clocking in with a solid 24 points per contest. Prior to their Week 4 win over Denver, Raiders QB Derek Carr had posted at least 250 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in each of his first three games to begin the season. Now playing on prime time against a Chiefs defense that allows 263.8 passing yards per game (27th in NFL), expect Carr and his strong supporting cast of WR Davante Adams and TE Darren Waller to keep the Chiefs’ defenders on their toes all night long.
Chiefs -7 (-114) at FanDuel
It appears to be business as usual for Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs this season, who are off to a scorching hot 3-1 start after dominating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, 41-31. Kansas City has played three of its first four games away from home, posting 40+ points in two of them. They will now return to Arrowhead Stadium and take on Las Vegas in their second divisional game of the year.
Dating back to Patrick Mahomes’ first year as the Chiefs starter in 2018, Kansas City is a staggering 21-4 straight up against AFC West opponents. This record drops to just 13-11 when factoring in the spread, which is second behind Las Vegas (15-11 ATS) as the division’s best covering team during that span.
While both teams will be sporting slightly different rosters in tonight’s game, this matchup was fairly one-sided in 2021. The Chiefs went into Allegiant Stadium during Week 10 of last season and took apart Las Vegas, 41-14. The second meeting was somehow even worse, with Kansas City locking up a dominant 48-9 win at home during Week 14.
Kansas City has won 8 of its last 9 games over the Raiders, winning by an average margin of 21.1 points per contest. And while it seems unlikely that things will go any differently tonight, it is worth mentioning that the mighty Buffalo Bills are coming to town next Sunday – which could end up making tonight’s game a lookahead spot for KC.
Legal sports betting hasn’t kicked off in Missouri just yet, however locals can head over to Kansas and sign up with FanDuel Sportsbook to claim this bonus offer! If you happen to be located in any other FD Sportsbook state, you can do the same!
