Dak Prescott 0-4 ATS in Playoff Career
Dak Prescott has been a hot topic around NFL circles this past week.
Prescott is coming off his worst start of the 2022-23 season, throwing for 128 yards and completing just 37.8% of his passes in an embarrassing loss to the Commanders. But it wasnβt only Prescott who was off – the offensive line was dismantled while the receivers struggled to get any separation throughout the game.Β
Prescott has had a polarizing year – despite missing over a month of action, he threw a league-high 15 INTs. However, besides last week and the first week he came back from his injury, the Cowboys have scored at least 27 points in all of his starts.Β
Prescott will once again be in the spotlight as he comes into this one with a lowly 0-4 record ATS in the postseason. He is just 1-3 SU as a starter in the playoffs, with his only win coming against Seattle in the Wild Card Round in 2018.
Despite posting a stellar 12-5 record and having much-improved metrics this season, Prescott and the Cowboys are favored by less than a field goal against the sub-.500 Buccaneers in this one.
Tom Brady as a Home Underdog
Many bettors have to be salivating at the thought of betting on Tom Brady as a home underdog in the postseason.Β
2022 has not been kind to Brady and the Bucs, but theyβre here, playing host in the first round with a winnable game on tap. Brady has never really found himself in this position. 8-9 is the lowest win total in Bradyβs 22 seasons as a starter. In addition, he has never seen himself as a home underdog in the postseasonβ¦except for one time.
In 2021, the Bucs became the first team to win the Super Bowl at their own home stadium. They were 3.5-point underdogs against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs and blew them out, winning 31-9.
If weβre going off trends, Brady has never lost to the Cowboys in his career. He is 7-0 SU and 4-3 ATS – the Bucs beat up the Cowboys back in Week 1, 19-3, as Prescott suffered an injury in the loss. The Cowboys also did not have offensive tackle Tyron Smith or wide receiver Michael Gallup in the Week 1 defeat. Nevertheless, it was a decisive beatdown by Brady and the Bucs.
But that was arguably the highlight of the Bucs’ regular season – Tampa Bay has been the leagueβs least-profitable team against the spread at a lowly 4-12-1 overall.
