New England Patriots -2.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook

Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots (6-6, 6-5-1 ATS) will be in search of a major bounce-back performance tonight on Monday Night Football following consecutive losses to the Minnesota Vikings on Thanksgiving and the Buffalo Bills during last week’s rendition of Thursday Night Football.

New England’s showing at home in its most recent game against the Bills was one that Belichick would probably like to forget, as his squad was essentially dominated the entire night en route to a toothless 24-10 defeat. New England failed to garner any steam on offense outside of Marcus Jones’ 48-yard touchdown on a screen pass in the first quarter, ending the game on a 21-3 run by the Bills. Now sitting at 6-6 overall following that crushing loss to Buffalo, the Patriots will have no choice but to eke out a win tonight in Arizona if they wish to remain in the AFC Wild Card race.

As far as injuries are concerned for New England, they’ll once again be without OT Isaiah Wynn, who has missed each of the team’s previous two contests with a foot injury. WR Jakobi Meyers will also remain sidelined after suffering a concussion in last week’s meeting with Buffalo. On the defensive side of the football, CB Jalen Mills will miss his second consecutive game as he nurses a groin injury.

Arizona Cardinals +2.5 with FanDuel

Although there is very little margin for error left at this point in the season, the Arizona Cardinals (4-8, 6-6 ATS) are technically still alive and fighting for a playoff berth in the NFC. A loss against New England would all but end any playoff hopes for Kliff Kingsbury’s bunch, whereas a win doesn’t guarantee anything other than another week in postseason contention.

The recent stretch of games for Arizona hasn’t been a very forgiving one, as the Cardinals have now lost four of their last five to a lineup of quality teams including the Vikings, Seahawks, 49ers, and Chargers. Last week’s crushing 25-24 loss in the final seconds against the Chargers was probably the final nail in Arizona’s metaphorical coffin; however, a win tonight would prolong things at least another week. If Arizona can pull one out tonight on primetime, it would set up a final stretch of games against Denver (3-10), Tampa Bay (6-7), Atlanta (5-8), and finally San Francisco (9-4), who could end up resting its starters in Week 18.

Diving into the injury report for tonight’s game, Arizona will once again be without Rondale Moore on offense after the speedy wideout suffered a groin injury against the 49ers back in Week 11. The Cardinals’ receiving corps will get a boost from WR Greg Dortch, who is set to return from a thumb injury following his breakout performance against San Francisco the same night Moore went down. Additionally, superstar WR DeAndre Hopkins is good to go after missing practice earlier in the week with an illness. CB Bryon Murphy will miss his fourth consecutive game with a back injury.
