- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Michigan -7.5, O/U 57.5
The 2022-2023 CFP Semifinals will kick off at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, where the TCU Horned Frogs will take on the Michigan Wolverines.
For the second consecutive year, the Michigan Wolverines come into the CFP as the number two seed. Last year was not too kind to them as they were destroyed by the eventual champs, Georgia, 34-11.Β
Michiganβs road will be challenging as theyβll be without star running back Blake Corum, who is out for the season with a knee injury. Corum was the teamβs leading rusher, with nearly 1,500 rushing yards on 5.9 yards per carry. The run-heavy Wolverines will instead lean on Donovan Edwards, who ran for 185 yards in the Big Ten Championship against Purdue.
While Michigan will lean on the run, TCU will go the other way and rely on Heisman finalist quarterback Max Duggan to lead them to victory. TCU started the season 12-0 before they suffered their only loss in the Big 12 championship against Kansas State, as they fell in OT, 31-28.
TCU will be led by first-year head coach Sonny Dykes. Dykes has had stops at Louisiana Tech, California, and SMU before he was tasked with replacing longtime legendary coach Gary Patterson. Dykes has answered the call and passed with flying colors as heβll try to will TCU into their first national title game since 1938.
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl game info + preview
- Date: Saturday, December 31, 2022
- Time: 8:00 pm ET
- Channel: ESPN
- Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia
- Participants: Ohio State Buckeyes (11-1) vs. Georgia Bulldogs (13-0)
- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Georgia -5.5, O/U 62.5
For our other CFP Semifinal, we will head to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, where the reigning champs will try to defend their title against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Georgia comes into this one with a flawless record of 13-0. The Bulldogs steamrolled over the SEC and are the heavy favorites to hoist the national title in Inglewood. Senior quarterback Stetson Bennett will lead the way. Bennett is a former walk-on, who worked his way up the depth chart, and helped Georgia win their first national championship since 1980. He’s currently had his best year as a starter to date, finishing this season in New York City as one of the Heisman finalists.
On the other side, the Buckeyes will try to pull off the upset after a disappointing end to their regular season. The Buckeyes lost βThe Gameβ for the second straight season against Michigan. However, unlike last year, Ohio State has found itself in the playoffs with new life.
Heisman finalist and potential first-overall pick C.J. Stroud will lead Ohio State. Stroud led the country with 37 touchdown passes. If Ohio State wants to pull off the upset, Stroud will need to turn in one of the best starts of his stellar career.
