Broncos vs Chargers MNF game details
- Date: Monday, October 17th, 2022
- Start Time: 8:15 pm ET
- TV Channel: ESPN
- Location: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California
- Participants: Denver Broncos vs Los Angeles Chargers
- FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Chargers -4.5 (-106), O/U 45.5
Denver Broncos +4.5 (-114)
Denver HC Nathanial Hackett and his struggling Broncos (2-3) will return to action on Monday night following a lengthy break since the team’s toothless 12-9 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football. With 10 days of rest sandwiched between that game and tonight’s clash with the Los Angeles Chargers, Hackett will have virtually no excuses for his team to show up unprepared.
Key defensive pieces in LB Josey Jewell and S Caden Sterns have both been ruled out for Monday night, however Denver is expected to get a massive boost in its secondary with the return of S Justin Simmons, who has been sidelined with a quad injury suffered in Denver’s Week 1 loss at Seattle. RG Quinn Meinerz is also questionable to return after missing each of Denver’s last four games.
With the potential additions of both Simmons and Meinerz, expect the retooled Broncos to come out with a colossal effort backed by their extra rest. If Hackett wishes to salvage the season he will need to take advantage of this situational spot, as Chargers HC Brandon Staley has gone just 1-2 ATS when his team is forced to play with a rest disadvantage.
FanDuel Sportsbook is now live and accepting action in Colorado.
Los Angeles Chargers -4.5 (-106)
Many started to question Brandon Staley’s Los Angeles Chargers (3-2) following the team’s embarrassing 38-10 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. Faced with a myriad of injuries and a pair of road games on the schedule, Staley’s bunch responded promptly with a couple of impressive wins away from home over the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.
Now back over .500 on the season, Los Angeles will return home for the first time in 21 days and take on a Denver unit that can’t seem to get out of its own way. Los Angeles should not overlook its opponent however, as they have struggled when facing Denver as of late. The Chargers have gone just 2-4 against the Broncos over the last three seasons, but did win the most recent matchup at SoFi Stadium in Week 17 of last season,Β 34-13.
With superstar wideout Keenan Allen likely sidelined once again, Los Angeles is going to need a lot more out of its receivers not named Mike Williams. Since Allen went down, Williams has provided the only shred of consistency in the Chargers’ passing offense. Things aren’t going to get any easier facing a stingy Denver pass defense that currently ranks 3rd in passing yards per attempt, 3rd in first down percentage, and 12th in opposing completion percentage.
Sports betting is not yet live in California, however residents of the state can vote on the matter in the upcoming November election.
