While Tulane vs. UCF may be getting all the headlines this weekend, we have another American Athletic game taking place this Friday Night that is shaping up to be quite a dandy.

Despite losing a plethora of talent, the Bearcats of Cincinnati are again right in the thick of it to vie for another American Athletic Conference title. Having won the last two AAC titles, the Bearcats are currently in second place and will try to play in their fourth straight title game.

On the other side, the rebuild has been long and tumultuous at times, but East Carolina is right in the thick of it in the AAC. They currently stand in 4th place and have locked up their first bowl berth since they appeared in the Birmingham Bowl under Ruffin McNeill in 2014.

East Carolina @ Cincinnati Preview

  • Date: Friday, November 11th, 2022
  • Channel: ESPN2
  • Start Time: 8:00 pm ET
  • Location: Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Participants: East Carolina Pirates (6-3) vs. Cincinnati Bearcats (7-2)
  • FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Cincinnati -5 (-110), O/U 52

For the game of the night, East Carolina travels to Nippert Stadium to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. East Carolina has been one of the pleasant surprises in all of college football. Not only did they lock up their first bowl berth since 2015 last week, winning outright as an underdog at BYU, but they are a very profitable 6-3 ATS on the year. A $100 bettor would be up $270 if they were to wager on the Pirates’ spread each week.

On the other side, the Bearcats are just 2-6-1 ATS on the season but boast a very respectable 7-2 record after losing nine (9!!!) NFL draft picks, including NFL DROY frontrunner Ahmad β€œSauce” Gardner.

Cincinnati will be riding high with plenty of confidence as Nippert Stadium presents one of the most significant home-field advantages in the entire country. Cincy has won 31 straight at Nippert and will look to extend that against a pesky Pirates squad.

The Pirates locked up their first bowl berth since 2015 last week when they went to Provo to upset BYU. Former James Madison head coach Mike Houston has been at ECU since 2019 and has slowly progressed each year. With a win tonight, ECU still has a path to appear in their first-ever AAC championship game.
