Tulane @ Houston
- Date: Friday, September 30, 2022
- Start Time: 7:00 pm ET
- TV Channel: ESPN
- Location: TDECU Stadium, Houston, Texas
- Participants:Β Tulane University vs. University of Houston
- FanDuel Odds: Houston -2.5 (-110), O/U 55.5
The Tulane Green Wave will travel to Texas to take on the Cougars of Houston as each team opens up conference play.
Houston started the year as a nationally-ranked squad but has gotten off to a slow start. After sneaking past UTSA in an OT win in week one, the Cougars followed it up with back-to-back losses to Texas Tech and Kansas.
Houston has been one of the sloppier teams in the country, leading the nation in penalties per game and penalty yards per game. Quarterback Clayton Tune has been a bright spot for the Cougars, having thrown for 993 yards with seven touchdown passes and two more on the ground.
Tulane has been a bit of a surprise to open up the year. Two weeks ago, they beat Kansas State in a nice upset win, but they followed it up with a disappointing loss to Southern Mississippi last week.
Tulane also has a promising signal-caller themselves with junior Michael Pratt. Pratt has delivered seven touchdown passes and is a serious threat on the ground averaging nearly 50 rushing yards a game.
You should expect plenty of points in this AAC matchup.
San Diego State @ Boise State
- Date: Friday, September 30, 2022
- Start Time: 8:00 pm ET
- TV Channel: FS1
- Location: Albertsons Stadium, Boise, Idaho
- Participants:Β San Diego State Aztecs vs. Boise State Broncos
- FanDuel Odds: Boise State -6.5 (-110), O/U 39
The Aztecs of San Diego State will travel to Idaho to open up Mountain West with the Broncos of Boise State.
In shocking news, Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier announced he would enter the transfer portal after their embarrassing 17-point loss in the Sun Bowl against UTEP last Friday Night.Β
In addition, head coach Andy Avalos announced he had relieved offensive coordinator Tim Plough of his duties and replaced him with former NFL head coach Dirk Koetter as OC. So, expect a new look on the offensive side of the football for the Broncos.
Virginia Tech transfer Braxton Burmeister will lead the Aztecs. Coming into this contest, the Aztecs are second in the Mountain West in rushing yards per game and dead last in passing yards per game, averaging just 73 yards through the air.
Each of these 2-2 squads should have plenty of motivation for this one to start on the right foot in Mountain West play.
Washington @ UCLA
- Date: Friday, September 30, 2022
- Start Time: 10:30 pm ET
- TV Channel: ESPN
- Location: Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California
- Participants:Β Washington Huskies vs. UCLA Bruins
- FanDuel Odds: Washington -3 (-110), O/U 64.5
A pair of undefeated Pac-12 teams will battle it out at the Rose Bowl for the Friday nightcap.
This will be the Huskiesβ first road test of the year, who have had an exciting start under new head coach Kalen DeBoer. Washington is ranked 15th in the nation at 4-0, including a top 25 win over Michigan State. Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr. has looked fantastic at quarterback, leading the country at 347 passing yards per game. Penix Jr. is gaining plenty of steam among NFL circles.
UCLA has the same record but hasnβt looked as sharp. The Bruins dodged an upset scare in week three against South Alabama. UCLA will be led by the dynamic tandem of Dorian Thompson-Robinson and running back Zach Charbonnet.
Expect a shootout in this one with a 64.5-point total.
