Week 2 CFB Betting Preview for FanDuel Sportsbook
Week 1 started with a bang, but college football is back with plenty of other intriguing matchups for you to dig into on Saturday, September 10th. All discussed odds are from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Alabama (1) @ Texas 12:00 pm ET on FOX
Saturday will kick off in Austin, where the highly-touted Crimson Tide will take on the Longhorns of Texas.
Despite being on the road, Alabama is a monster 20-point favorite. Nick Saban will take on his former assistant Steve Sarkisian. In terms of big college football brands, it doesnβt get much better than these two.
If the Longhorns want to pull off the upset, theyβll need to score plenty of points. Texas has plenty of firepower led by five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers. Ewers was an Ohio State transfer who looked promising in his first career start last week, but Alabama is a whole different animal. Expect Xavier Worthy to get involved in the passing game.
On the ground game, Bijan Robinson could be an equalizer for the Longhorns. Robinson is the consensus top running back in the country and may be a first-rounder come April. The Crimson Tide are touting one of the best edge tandems in all college football. Will Anderson is arguably the top defensive player in the country, and one of the best defensive prospects college has seen in recent memory. On the other side, Dallas Turner is an intriguing name to watch. He finished 2021 with 8.5 sacks as a freshman.
The biggest name in this one is Bryce Young. Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy Winner, is one of the top quarterbacks in the country. He started his 2022 campaign on a stellar note with five touchdown passes against Utah State.
FanDuel Sportsbook odds for Alabama @ Texas:
- BAMA -20.5
- TOTAL 64.5
Heisman hopefuls on full display
FanDuel Sportsbook has up to the minute betting odds for the Heisman trophy and four of the front runners will be on the field in Austin. Bryce Young remains the favorite for CFB’s most prestigious award at +300. Will Anderson, his Alabama teammate, has the 7th best odds at +3000.
On the Texas offense Bijan Anderson has the 10th best odds to be striking the famous pose this year at +4000, and QB Ewers measures in at +5000 at FanDuel Sportsbook. Should Texas pull the upset, this may be the last chance to shop the TX side with this value.
Tennessee (17) @ Pittsburgh (24) 3:30 pm ET on ABC
This showdown between one of the ACCβs best and a riser in the SEC has a chance to be one of the weekβs highest-scoring duels.
Tennessee is coming off a convincing 59-10 victory over Ball State. It seems like Tennessee walks off the bus, and they have 500 yards. This offense is one of the best in all of college football, and standout quarterback Hendon Hooker leads it.
Although the Tennessee defense was solid last week, they will undoubtedly have their hands full with the dynamic Pitt offense. Transfer quarterback Kedon Slovis was terrific in his debut in the Backyard Brawl, where he threw for over 300 yards in their come-from-behind victory over the Mountaineers of West Virginia.
And on the sidelines, UT head coach Josh Heupel and Pitt’s head coach Pat Narduzzi are two of college footballβs most colorful personalities in the nation. Expect a barn burner here.
FanDuel Sportsbook odds for Tennessee @ Pitt:
- TENN -6.5
- TOTAL 66.5
Kentucky (20) @ Florida (12) 7:00 pm ET on ESPN
The SEC clash of UK and UF used to be a renowned basketball rivalry, but it has molded into a solid football rivalry in recent years.
After Florida won 31 consecutive matchups between 1987-2017, the two schools have split in the last four years. Kentucky won last yearβs matchup 20-13. For the Wildcats, Will Levis will assume the quarterback position once again. Levis is considered one of the top quarterback prospects heading into the NFL Draft this upcoming April. He has a wiry arm and a knack for making big plays down the field.
The Gators also have a highly-regarded quarterback in their own right. Anthony Richardson took the college football landscape by storm in their victory over the University of Utah. Richardson was a bit of an unknown, having only thrown 64 passes in all of 2021, but he certainly passes the eye test. But in last weekβs showing, Richardson produced big play after big play with his arm and legs.
Expect another thriller this week in Gainesville – this one may come down to the final possession.
FanDuel Sportsbook ods for Kentucky @ Florida:
- UF -5.5
- TOTAL 52.5
Baylor (9) @ BYU (21) 10:15 pm ET on ESPN
This may be a preview of a future rivalry. Although Baylor and BYU have only squared off against one another three times, college football fans know BYU is slated to join the Big 12 in 2023.
This matchup should be an absolute battle to finish the week two lineup. Baylor returns four of five offensive linemen from a year ago, which showed in their week one beatdown against the Albany Great Danes, where they amassed 259 rushing yards on over six yards per carry.
BYU quarterback, Jaren Hall, is coming off a remarkable 2021 campaign where he threw 20 touchdown passes to just five interceptions. In last yearβs meeting, Hall threw for 342 yards against one of the nationβs best defenses. But Dave Arandaβs group came out on top with the Baylor Bears winning 38-24.
BYU will be out for revenge to prove theyβre worthy of the Big 12 when they join the conference in 2023.
FanDuel Sportsbook odds for Baylor @ BYU:
- BYU -3.5
- TOTAL 53.5
