Green Bay Packers -4.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook
Just a little over a month ago, the Packers lost on Sunday Night Football to the Philadelphia Eagles to fall to 4-8 with Aaron Rodgers injured, and speculation arose about whether head coach Matt LaFleur would turn the reins over to former 1st round pick Jordan Love to see what heβs got.
But the Week 14 bye week did the trick, as the Packers have gotten healthier and are in the midst of a four-game win streak. With some help from their NFC counterparts, the Packers have been able to play themselves into a win, and theyβre in scenario against the surging Detroit Lions.
The Packers come in with a .500 record SU and ATS. Green Bay has been known to have one of the best home-field advantages in the sport – the forecast calls for clear skies, roughly 26 degrees, and under ten mph winds in the Frozen Tundra.
Over his illustrious career, Aaron Rodgers has owned the NFC North, including the Detroit Lions. In 25 career games versus Detroit, Rodgers is 18-7 with 53 touchdown passes to just 11 interceptions. However, in their lone meeting this season, Rodgers fell to the Lions, 15-9, and Rodgers had three crucial picks to swing the game.
With a loss, Green Bay can open the door to Seattle or Detroit potentially swooping in and snagging the last playoff berth in the NFC.
Detroit Lions +4.5 with FanDuel
Just like Green Bay, there was a time when things looked grim for Detroit. After Week 8, the Lions stood at 1-6, and many experts questioned if this franchise was going in the right direction under head coach Dan Campbell. Since then, the Lions have won seven of their last nine, including wins over Green Bay, the New York Giants, Jacksonville, and Minnesota.
With an 8-8 overall record and a profitable 11-5 record ATS (3rd in the NFL), the Lions are ahead of schedule in their rebuild.
However, unlike Green Bay, Detroit is not in a βwin, and youβre inβ scenario. The Lions will need some help – if the Rams can beat the Seahawks, this becomes a do-or-die game for the NFCβs final Wild Card spot. However, if Seattle loses, Detroit is out of the running for the playoffs. Seattle currently stands as a 6-point favorite over the Los Angeles Rams on FanDuel – the game is slated to start at 4:25pm ET.
If Seattle wins, this spread may grow larger for Detroit, considering theyβd potentially lose a lot of motivation being out of the playoff hunt. But in his two years in the Motor City, Dan Campbell has seemingly been able to get his teams to play hard no matter the circumstances. If Los Angeles cannot pull off the upset, Detroit can still play spoiler and kick Green Bay out of the playoffs in favor of the Seahawks.
