Bills vs Patriots game details and betting preview

  • Date: Thursday, December 1, 2023
  • Start Time: 8:15pm ET
  • Channel: Amazon Prime Video
  • Location: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts
  • Participants: Buffalo Bills (8-3) vs New England Patriots (6-5)
  • FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Bills -3.5 (-118), O/U 43.5

Buffalo Bills -3.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook

HC Sean McDermott’s Buffalo Bills (8-3, 5-5-1 ATS) are currently tied for first place in the AFC East and winners of two straight, however many are starting to question what Buffalo is really made of as the season progresses. Injury concerns surrounding superstar QB Josh Allen have recently dropped Buffalo (+450) below the Kansas City Chiefs (+430) as the Super Bowl LVII favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook, knocking the Bills out of the top spot for the first time all season.

In addition to concerns about Josh Allen’s elbow, Buffalo nearly lost to the Detroit Lions on the road last week and has now surrendered an average of 27 points per game across its last three contests. The Bills’ defense will also be without star LB Von Miller tonight at New England, which is yet another factor that has caused the point spread to plummet from -5.5 to -3.5 just a few hours before kickoff.

Buffalo is a lowly 2-4 against the spread on the road this season, with all four losses coming in games in which the spread was greater than 3 points. The Bills’ only road covers occurred against the now 3-8 Los Angeles Rams on opening night and the Kansas City Chiefs in an impressive come-from-behind victory in the final minute of their Week 6 showdown.

New England Patriots +3.5 with FanDuel

The New England Patriots (6-5, 6-4-1 ATS) are still on the outside looking in when it comes to both the AFC playoff picture and the AFC East division standings, but can make a big jump tonight with a win over the first place Buffalo Bills.

New England will gladly jump at this opportunity to get back on the schneid following last week’s thrilling loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Thanksgiving, 33-26. HC Bill Belichick and company will look to prevent Buffalo from picking up its first AFC East victory of the season, hoping to follow suit behind the New York Jets (+12.5) and Miami Dolphins (+5.5), who each already took down Buffalo at home as a sizable underdog this season.

One of the more forgotten storylines that should come into play tonight is the simple fact that the last time these two teams met, Buffalo handed New England one of Belichick’s worst losses of his entire 22-year career as head coach of the Patriots. The Bills absolutely tormented New England in Orchard Park in the 2021-22 Wild Card Round, boat-racing the Patriots to the tune of a 47-17 final score.

If there is anyone that is built to exact revenge after a result as bad as that one, it is none other than Bill Belichick. Whether New England wins outright or simply keeps the game within three points is anyone’s guess, but don’t expect Buffalo to embarrass the Patriots for the second consecutive meeting. Roll with New England plus the hook here.
