While the Phillies and Astros square off in the World Series, Philadelphia and Houston will duel it out on the gridiron to kick off NFL Week 9 on Thursday Night Football.

These teams are going in opposite directions as the Eagles are the lone undefeated team remaining in the NFL, while the Texans currently hold two top-ten picks, including their own, which is slotted at 2nd overall.

There aren’t too many times where you’ll see a team favored by two touchdowns on the road during a short week – but that’s precisely what we have on tap for this Thursday night! Because of this unique spread, you can take advantage of plenty of opportunities on FanDuel Sportsbook.

The premier U.S. mobile sportsbook offers a No Sweat First Bet, where users can claim up to $1,000 in free bets if their initial wager falls short. You cannot qualify for this welcome offer if you already have a FanDuel Sportsbook account.

All you need to do is click on this link to register for a sportsbook on FanDuel – no FanDuel promo code is required! But before you do that, we will fill you in on everything you need to know about your welcome offer and how to qualify. In addition, we will preview Thursday Night Football with some potential betting avenues you can go down while using your bonus offer.

FanDuel Promo Code: $1K No Sweat First Bet

Once week nine concludes, we will have already reached the halfway point of the 2022-2023 NFL regular season. If you haven’t already, you can claim a big-time bonus offer at one of the best sports betting sites, FanDuel, for this showdown. Here is a step-by-step process of what you need to do to ensure you receive your No Sweat First Bet offer:

  • Click on this link to register and sign up for an account on FanDuel Sportsbook.
  • Make your first real-money deposit on FanDuel. Make sure it is at least $10 to make a qualifying offer.
  • Place a qualifying wager on any market or bet type for tonight’s Thursday night matchup between the Eagles vs. Texans. Make sure it is anywhere from $10 to $1000, and you will be in the money to receive your No Sweat First Bet welcome bonus.

FanDuel’s welcome offer is straightforward – if your initial offer is a winner, your promotion ends there, and you start with some extra money in the bankroll! If your first bet loses, this is where the No Sweat condition kicks into gear.

In the event of a loss, FanDuel Sportsbook will match your initial wager and refund you in free bet credits up to $1,000. Your initial offer can exceed $1,000, but FanDuel will cap off their free bets at $1K. Free bets will land in your account within 24 hours of your first bet settlement.Β

Your free bet will arrive in one big chunk, but you can divide your free bets however you’d like. It’s important to know that winning wagers that use free bets will only pay out your winnings, not the initial stake, as betting with real cash would.

Eligible players must be 21 years or older to play and must be in one of the following states:

  • AZ, CT, IA, IL, LA, MI, NJ, NY, PA, TN, WV, or WY

Week 9 TNF: Eagles @ Texans Game Details

  • Date: Thursday, November 3rd, 2022
  • Start Time: 8:20 pm ET
  • Participants: Philadelphia Eagles (7-0) vs. Houston Texans (1-5-1)
  • Channel: Prime Video
  • FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Philadelphia -14, O/U 44.5

Eagles @ Texans Betting Preview

Heading into week 9, the Eagles have the second-highest odds of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at +550 odds. Conversely, the Texans are the favorite to land the #1 overall pick at +125 odds.

So, although the game might not be appetizing from a pure-watching perspective – that’s where FanDuel comes in! Putting some skin on a game like this can make it that much more entertaining while earning some extra coin. Let’s jump into the biggest storylines for this one.

Can the Eagles Keep it Rolling?

Just following the odds at FanDuel, it seems three teams are in a class of their own right now: the Bills, Chiefs, and Eagles, who all possess +700 odds or shorter to win the Super Bowl.

There is another clump of four teams hovering around +1300 odds, but it’s safe to say the Eagles have looked like the strongest team in the NFC to date. The only games that have presented any resistance were the Cardinals and Cowboys games – other than that, Philly has been dominant on the offensive and defensive sides of the football.

To illustrate this, quarterback Jalen Hurts currently holds the second shortest odds to win the MVP (+380), is the favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year (+350), and head coach Nick Sirianni is the leader in the clubhouse for Coach of the Year (-105).

Texans WRs Status

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks is familiar with being a focal point in a big-time trade. He has been dealt to the Rams and Patriots as a potential finishing touch for two caliber championship squads and has been a member of Houston for the past three seasons.Β

With Houston in clear rebuild mode, it only seemed logical Cooks would be on the move this past trade deadline. But the deadline came and went without Cooks finding a new home. However, it seems the wide receivers’ status for this game is up in the air.

Brandin Cooks appears to be unhappy he wasn't traded. https://t.co/faUJ6x9AgW

Cooks was excused from Tuesday’s practice as he appeared to be disgruntled over staying put in Houston. On top of this, Nico Collins missed last week’s game due to a groin injury and is listed as questionable for this one.

If neither of these guys can go, Davis Mills will be relying on the likes of Phillip Dorsett, Chris Moore, and Tyron Johnson to create on the outside.

Houston Run Defense vs. Philly Run Game

The Houston rush defense has been abysmal. In previous games, Houston has allowed top rushers of 219, 157, and 143 yards on the ground. Up next is arguably the league’s top rushing offense. Not only has running back Miles Sanders had a breakout year, but quarterback Jalen Hurts is one of the more lethal signal callers in the NFL using his legs.

This is a clear mismatch in Philly’s favor heading into Thursday night. Hurts rushing prop is set at 41.5 yards on FanDuel Sportsbook, while Miles Sanders’ is set at a whopping 79.5.

Can Houston Do the Unthinkable? Or At Least Cover?

Two weeks ago, the Carolina Panthers not only covered but won outright as a 13-point underdog in convincing fashion against the Buccaneers, 21-3. To date, it is the NFL’s biggest upset of the year – if Houston were to win Thursday night, they would overtake that mark.

But as we’ve noted, it’ll be a challenging task. Using FootballOutsiders DVOA metric, which measures the efficiency of every NFL play and compares a team’s given performance to the league average based on time and situation, it appears Houston may be in for a long night. Here is how these teams match up with one another.

Eagles RankingTexans Ranking
Offensive DVOA Ranking331
Defensive DVOA Ranking230
Special Teams DVOA Ranking266

While the offenses and defenses are out on the field, the Eagles should be littered with mismatches. But in the special teams’ department, Houston holds a significant advantage. Philadelphia has struggled in the punting game while allowing multiple huge returns. Can Houston steal a few big plays in the kicking game to lead to a potential cover or even outright upset (+600 on the moneyline with FanDuel)?

No FanDuel Sportsbook promo code is required for this Thursday Night Football betting offer.
