Tuesday Night NBA betting preview
After a thrilling eight-game slate on Monday night that featured underdogs going 5-3 ATS, the NBA returns tonight with a solid four-game card. Mavericks vs Pelicans will serve as the first of two nationally televised games on TNT, followed by a high-stakes Warriors vs Suns clash in the late window. Let’s get into the fun.
Detroit Pistons +5.5 at Washington Wizards (220.5)
Tonight’s slate will begin in Washington D.C. with an interesting matchup between the young Detroit Pistons (1-2, 1-2 ATS) and the Washington Wizards (2-1, 1-1-1 ATS). Washington returns home to Capital One Arena for just the second time on the young season after defeating the Chicago Bulls there last Friday, 102-100. As for Detroit, they’ll look to do something that the franchise has not done in 8 years – win a basketball game in Washington D.C. That’s right – Detroit hasn’t won on the road against the Wizards since 2014. To put that into perspective, Josh Smith and Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons in scoring in that game.
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Pistons +5.5, O/U 220.5
FanDuel is currently live and accepting action in Michigan, while Washington D.C. looks to expand mobile betting options in the near future.
Dallas Mavericks -5 at New Orleans Pelicans (219.5)
The first of two nationally televised games on TNT will air live from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans and feature Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks (1-1, 2-0 ATS) taking on the rambunctious New Orleans Pelicans (2-1, 2-1 ATS). Injuries are the biggest concern heading into tonight’s contest, with SF Brandon Ingram already ruled out with a concussion, and PF Zion Williamson currently tabbed as questionable with a hip injury. Ingram’s absence could prove to be costly for New Orleans, as the team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday in overtime to the Jazz after he was forced to exit in the first quarter.
Dallas, on the other hand, enters this matchup coming off an absolute rout of the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, 137-96. The team will seek out its first win away from home tonight, and do so as the favorite at -5. Dallas excelled when laying points away from home last season, finishing the 2021-22 season with a 13-7 record ATS as a road favorite.
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Mavericks -5, O/U 219.5
Bettors in Texas will unfortunately have to wait to place any legal wagers in-state, however those in Louisiana can sign up with FanDuel Sportsbook and get wagering today!
Los Angeles Clippers -9.5 vs Oklahoma City Thunder (214)
Next up, the Los Angeles Clippers (2-1, 1-2 ATS) will hobble into the Paycom Center and face off against the struggling Oklahoma City Thunder (0-3, 2-1 ATS). Despite having yet to win a game this season, the up-and-coming Thunder play extremely hard and have covered the spread in two of their three losses thus far. Tonight could be a sneaky opportunity to steal that elusive first win for OKC, as superstar Paul George will be out for Los Angeles with a non-COVID illness.
George will also be joined by F Marcus Morris, who will miss tonight’s game for personal reasons. Furthermore, G John Wall and F Kawhi Leonard are expected to once again be on minutes restrictions while working back from their respective injuries. As for OKC, they’ll attempt to pull off the upset without young star guards Josh Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, both of which have been deemed out for tonight’s game. With all the uncertainty in this one, your guess is as good as mine.
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Clippers -9.5, O/U 214
Mobile wagering is not yet live in California, but residents of the state can vote on the matter in the upcoming November election. Sports betting also remains illegal in Oklahoma.
Golden State Warriors +1.5 vs Phoenix Suns (226)
The main event on tonight’s NBA card is an absolute dandy for basketball fans, as the defending champion Golden State Warriors (2-1, 1-2 ATS) will head into the Footprint Center and do battle with the Phoenix Suns (2-1, 1-2 ATS). There are currently no major injuries listed for either side, meaning fans should be able to see these two Western Conference juggernauts face off at full strength for the first time since Chris Paul joined the Suns in 2020. SG Klay Thompson missed the first three games of last year’s series, while PG Steph Curry was sidelined for the final meeting of the season on March 30, 2022. Despite those absences, the season series ended 2-2, with both sides going 1-1 at home. Expect a playoff-level atmosphere and good defense throughout tonight’s game – over the last 16 meetings between Golden State and Phoenix, the under has cashed a whopping 13 times, good for a 13-3 overall record.
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Warriors +1.5, O/U 226
Fans of the Suns can back their hometown team with FanDuel Sportsbook, now live in Arizona!
