When did Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky launch?
Fanatics Sportsbook KY launched on September 28, 2023.
The state of Kentucky made its first attempt to legalize sports betting back in 2017. When the US Supreme Court overturned PASPA (the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act), it opened the floodgates for states to allow sports betting inside their borders.
As it currently stands, each horse racing facility in Kentucky is now able to partner with three different online betting brands for a total fo 27 Kentucky sports betting apps.
However, additionally, each location was permitted to open a retail sportsbook as early as September 7, 2023. Fanatics Sportsbook KY has partnered with Oak Grove Racing, Gaming, and Hotel. Mobile sports betting is now live in KY as of September 28, 2023!

Fanatics Betting and Gaming Buys PointsBet
Since the legalization of sports betting in the United States many companies jumped into the market and that includes the Australian-based sportsbook PointsBet. The competitive nature of the new legal sports betting industry in the US came with aggressive marketing campaigns that include some generous free play offers.
In April of 2023, PointsBet hired an investment banker to help it administer the sale of its North American operation. The company was taking bets in 14 different US markets as well as having operations in Ontario, and the larger Canada betting market but wasn’t able to capture much of the market share from the larger industry players including FanDuel Kentucky and DraftKings.
In May of 2023, Fanatics made an initial offer of $150 million to acquire PointsBet’s U.S. operations. The next month DraftKings topped the amount by making a $195 offer for the same assets. Ultimately, when Fanatics Sportsbooks raised their offer to $225 million, the PointsBet board of directors approved the sale and on June 30, 2023, 99% of the PointsBet Holdings shareholders voted in favor of accepting that final offer.

Best Kentucky Sports Teams to Bet On
Kentucky does not have any teams that play in the NFL, NHL, or MLB but that doesn’t mean that sports bettors in the Blue Grass State don’t have multiple options for betting sports with Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky.
- Kentucky Wildcats – The Wildcats are perennial contenders in men’s basketball. They usually contend for the SEC title and with their 13 NCAA Titles, including the last in 2012, they’ll grab a lot of March Madness future action with Fanatics KY from their rabid fan base. Playing in what is arguably the best conference in college football, Kentucky fans are able to bet on games with some of the top-rated schools in the country.
- Louisville Cardinals – Playing in the ACC allows Cardinal fans to catch their school’s athletics teams face clubs like Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and North Carolina. It’s been tough sledding for Louisville’s team the last few years although their basketball team has won three national championships. Fanatics Sportsbook KY is offer wagers on the Cardinals.
- Indianapolis Colts – The NFL is king and even with no NFL teams in the Blue Grass State the Colts are only a couple of hours from Louisville. Whether it’s teams in their division like the Titans or Jaguars, or some of the powerhouse teams of the AFC, the Colts NFL schedule keeps Kentucky sports bettors busy.
- Cincinnati Bengals– It’s almost the same exact distance from Louisville to Cincinnati as it is to Indy, but the Bengals are in a better place right now. Joe Burrow is one of the bright stars of the league and they have made back-to-back playoff appearances that included a narrow loss to the Rams in Super Bowl LVI.
- Indiana Pacers– The NBA’s Pacers are also located in Indianapolis and although they haven’t made the playoffs since 2019-20, that short round trip will allow sports bettors in Kentucky the ability to get their bet in before leaving for the game and then hopefully cashing it when they get back to their favorite Fanatics Sportsbook location.
Available Sports to Bet on Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky
Sports bettors in Kentucky have a plethora of options. Some players bet with their heads, and others with their hearts. Either way, you’ll have plenty of options for your action:
- College Basketball – There are eight Division I basketball programs that call Kentucky home. The distance between the Wildcats and Cardinals’ campuses is less than 80 miles apart and they’ve been playing since 1913.
- College Football – The Division I schools that are located in the Blue Grass state represent seven different athletic conferences including the SEC and ACC.
- NFL Football – You’ll be able to wager on any NFL team in Kentucky with the Colts, Titans, and Bengals all having fan bases close to the state.
- NBA Basketball – It’s an 82-game season in the NBA and Fanatics Sportsbooks Kentucky will have most of those on the board. Kentucky is right in the middle of a four-team grouping. The Pacers, Grizzlies, Hawks, and Hornets are close enough to get some homer wagers.
- MLB Baseball – Football fans know how long the summer can last until the NFL is back on the field. Kentucky gamblers can choose from the Cardinals, Reds, and Braves if they’re looking for a close team to adopt as their own.
- NHL Hockey – The Nashville Predators play just three hours from Kentucky and would be a fan favorite for local sports bettors. The Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues could also find some of their fans betting with Fanatics.
- Soccer – Soccer continues to grow in the US. Kentucky has two professional soccer teams. Louisville FC plays in the USL Championship league and Racing Louisville FC is a member of the NWSL.
Kentucky Derby Betting on Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky
Kentucky is home to nine different racetracks and hosts the greatest two minutes in sports every year on the first Saturday in May. Churchill Downs hosts the Kentucky Derby, and the Run for the Roses annually draws over 150,000 fans to the track to watch up to 20 three-year-old thoroughbreds attempt to make history. Horse racing has been formally regulated since 1906 but there have been ovals in the state since the 1700s.
On May 17th, 1875, the first Kentucky Derby was held. In what has become the jewel of the annual racing calendar, this 1 ¼ race for three-year-old horses had a purse in 2023 of $3 million dollars. It is the first race in the triple crown of thoroughbred racing, a title reserved for the 13 horses that have won all three races in the same season.
Sadly, Fanatics Kentucky won’t offer odds on the Kentucky Derby. Horse racing and betting on sports are two completely different entities. If you’re looking to bet on horses, and races like the Kentucky Derby, you’ll need to use a racebook like TwinSpires.
Betting on College Sports in Kentucky
There are no professional teams located in the state of Kentucky. That will not have an impact on the number of wagering options available at Fanatics Sportsbook KY. The Blue Grass state has seven different schools that play in Division I conferences.

- Morehead State University
- Murray State University
- Northern Kentucky University

Exclusive Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky Bet Types
There are many types of wagers that are available to players using Fanatics Sportsbook KY.
- Futures
- Live Betting
- Odds Boost
- Parlays
- Same Game Parlays
- Team Totals
- Live Betting
Live wagering is exactly what the title describes. These are bets that are made in live-action while the game is being played. In the early days of sports betting, if you missed the start of the game, it wasn’t possible to wager on that game again.
Over time, sports books started offering a brand new line for the game during halftime. Live betting involves the sportsbook setting a new point spread for the game that is fluid and constantly adjusting to what is happening in the game.
These live wagering opportunities are not just for the main wagering options for the sides and totals. Books will offer updated lines on almost every aspect of wagering. In some instances, there can be 400 or more different wagering options on the board for one single game.
Same Game Parlays on Fanatics Kentucky
When a player makes a same game parlay (SGP), they place a wager that requires all the different bets to win for them to cash the ticket. All of these plays are wagers on the same game and usually are related to each other.
An example of a same-game parlay could be taking the home team because they have a great offense, you could add to that parlay ticket by taking the number of touchdown passes their quarterback would throw and add to that with the number of receptions the top receiver will make or the total number of yards a certain running back will have.
When you combine all these different plays, a same game parlay will multiply those odds to make it very profitable when you are correct with all your plays. However, as in all parlays, every single play of an SGP must be correct or the wager is a loser.
Odds Boosts
When a sportsbook wants to increase the betting on a certain wager, they will offer a promotion that’s called an odds boost. That name implies exactly what the promotion offers. The house increases the payout on these wagering options to entice players to place bets on these plays.
Standard wagers on sports are normally listed with odds of -110. This means that for every $100 that you would like to win, you would have to risk $110. The odds of +110 mean that for wagering $100 that play would pay you $110 if you are correct.
An example of how this works is having a sportsbook take a wagering option that has odds of -110 and boost those odds higher to +110. That allows players that wager on that option to only have to wager $100 instead of $110 and they would win $110 rather than just the $100 for the real odds before they were boosted.
Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky App Review
Sports bettors in Kentucky have every reason to be excited about the opening of Fanatics Sportsbook KY. Anyone that has seen how Fanatics has overtaken the collectibles industry with their product line and marketing campaign can expect the same from their wagering side.
This is great for the public, but probably not so much for the other books looking to get a solid share of the Kentucky sports betting market share.
Having the former FanDuel CEO running things means they’ll be no learning curve which is great news for the Fanatics Sportsbook Kentucky customer base.
Combining that with an app that’s available for both Android and iPhone and an incredible crossover program from sports fans that like to buy apparel to those that like wearing those jerseys while they’re betting on the team has an enormous upside for both Fanatics and their customers.

Beta Version, Clean and Easy to use, Awesome Support Staff
I’ve been betting with this app for a week or so now so far it’s been good looks clean and easy to navigate I like the “TrendingLive” section a lot there is not a busload of random prop picks like some other mobile sportsbook app.
Zay615, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 7/31/2023
SuperClean app, easy to navigate, top customer service
This is the 10th app I’ve tried in Maryland and between the simple layout, beautiful pictures of city stadiums, and excellent customer service, Fanatics is at the top of the list.

Fanatics Kentucky Sportsbook App for Android
Currently, the Fanatics Sportsbook KY app on the Google Play Store has 115 reviews and a score of 3.7 stars. Here are a few of the comments about the app and the stars awarded.
Force closes when trying to deposit. No use having a sportsbook that you can’t even get money into for betting. Way too many competitors for the headache. Updated from 1 to 4 stars.
Matt P, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, July 14, 2023
I’m a bit of a tester and I actually love this app. But it’s gonna go a long way compared to all the apps that just came out only thing. I have a problem with what needs to be changed to the interface it’s way too dark and you do click a wager to play on it needs to be.
Robert Turner, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, June 14, 2023
Decent but needs work I’ve had no problems with the app, got bonus bets & was using them. Suddenly I can’t access my account though. I keep getting a “something is wrong, let’s give it another try” error message. I can’t get past that in a sports betting app.
