Las Vegas Westgate SuperContest Contestants Post Strong NFL Week 4By Brett Smiley | Published: October 3, 2017 at 1:51 pm
The poolsters picked up the scent of a stellar Week 3 by the underdogs (11-5 ATS) and the dogs barked again as seven dogs won straight up and posted a 9-7 record (very nearly 10-6 if not for that wild Redskins-Chiefs result). Meanwhile home teams got smacked 6-10 against the spread.
Most Popular Picks Prevail and Dogs Bark Again as SuperContest Contestants Improve Records
Here’s a snapshot at the most popular Week 4 picks among the field of 2,748 in the $1,500 per-entry contest that will pay over $1 million to the winner (via FantasySuperContest):
- Denver Broncos (-2.5) vs. Oakland Raiders (963 picks)(Win)
- Los Angeles Chargers (-1.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (774 picks) (Loss)
- New York Giants (+3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (726 picks) (Win)
- New Orleans Saints (-3) “at” Miami Dolphins (705 picks) (Win)
- Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Cleveland Browns (595 picks) (Win)
The top of the docket certainly delivered and the average weekly win poolwide totaled 2.79 correct picks, a marked improvement over Week 3’s 2.37 average wins. A hearty 113 contestants registered a perfect 5-0 (4.1%) with 581 at 4-1 (21.1%) and fewer than 10% scored only 1 win or less.
Two of the NFL’s three winless teams garnered heavy support (Chargers, Giants) but only the Giants delivered the cover — in a 25-23 loss, of course.
As for the leaders, last week’s frontrunner “PHD SPORTS” dropped into a tie with “SCHEMATIC ADVANTAGE,” who rode a perfect 5-0 up the leaderboard. Interestingly they did not match on a single selection in Week 4 and both enter Week 5 with a 17-3 record. “ROSEE” sits right behind at 16-3-1 as four more lurk at 16-4.
Lines for Week 5 come out tomorrow, Wednesday, live on VSiN. And the menu gets a bit shorter as bye weeks begin and the Falcons, Broncos, Saints and Redskins catch a breather.
