Miles Austin, the wide receivers coach for the New York Jets, has been suspended for a year by the NFL for betting on non-NFL sports, according to a report by the NFL Networkβs Tom Pelissero.

The leagueβs gambling policy prohibits personnel from wagering on any sport whatsoever. Austin is appealing the suspension while fully cooperating with the investigation, according to his lawyer.

Austin played 10 years in the NFL, mostly with the Dallas Cowboys.
In the last similar gambling-related incident, former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley was placed on indefinite suspension by the NFL in March for having bet on Falcons contests last year while he was on leave from the team.
