Pete Rose, Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader but still on the outside looking in at the Hall of Fame for betting on the sport he once played while manager of the Cincinnati Reds, made an appearance on Eric Raskin and John Brennan’s “Gamble On” podcast this week.
Now an ambassador for UPickTrade, Rose will offer exclusive sports betting picks and commentary for baseball and other sports. During his appearance on “Gamble On,” the three-time World Series champion and 17-time MLB All-Star did not hold back on an array of subjects, including not being in the Baseball Hall of Fame and his new role with UPickTrade.
It is the second time this year the tout service has made waves in the U.S., also grabbing attention in late February with a short-lived partnership with the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights that lasted less than a week after it was derided in the sports betting sphere of social media. Check out a few snippets below.
- On betting on baseball: “I’m not going to sit here and tell you I didn’t make a mistake, I made a mistake betting on baseball. I needed something else when I retired as an active player and I believed in my players so much, I had so many good young players so I just bet on them to win every night.”
- On not being in the Hall of Fame: “I don’t want you guys to think that before I go to bed tonight I’m going to dream and hope I go to the Hall of Fame tomorrow. I’m going to hope and dream that I wake up tomorrow. That’s the stage of life I’m in.”
- On joining UPickTrade: “It’s a hell of a lot better picking the games than betting on the games. When you try to give people a reason to follow you picking games, you have to have a little knowledge about the games. … If you’re a bad luck guy, you shouldn’t gamble because you won’t win.”
