Continuing to lay the groundwork for its eventual physical sportsbook launch in the Chicago area, PointsBet announced a deal Friday that makes it the first sports betting partner of the Chicago Bears.
It is the second such deal in as many days for the Australian-based sportsbook. PointsBet announced a similar agreement with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday in which it gains use of the Bears’ IP, marks, and logos as well as access to sponsorship opportunities to promote brand visibility across the storied NFL franchise’s digital assets.
βThe PointsBet team is incredibly excited to become the first legal sportsbook partner in Chicago Bears history. We are teaming up with a first-class organization, supported by extremely passionate fans,β Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO, said in a statement. βSince launching our fast and differentiated mobile sports betting app in Illinois, weβve been thrilled by the reception from Chicago sports bettors.
“Weβve always viewed Illinois to be a supreme market opportunity for the PointsBet brand, and we look forward to increasing our presence alongside famed partners in the Chicago Bears.β
PointsBet launched its mobile sports wagering app in Illinois on Sept. 12, having entered the state through a 20-year partnership with Hawthorne Race Course in July 2019 shortly after sports betting was legalized by Gov. JB Pritzker. Hawthorne, located in the Chicago suburb of Stickney, will be the flagship retail location, and PointsBet will have sportsbooks at off-track betting facilities in Crestwood, Oakbrook Terrace, and Prospect Heights — all located within 35 miles of downtown Chicago.

The agreement is the second PointsBet has made with ties to the Bears — the sportsbook tabbed former defensive back and return specialist Devin Hester to be the face of their Illinois betting platform. Bears fans will receive a unique sign-up code for PointsBet’s mobile app that will provide access to special promotions.
βAs we break into the sports betting category for the first time, we couldnβt be more excited to welcome PointsBet to the Bears family as a Proud Partner,β said Chicago Bears President & CEO Ted Phillips. βThis deal will bring fans a new way to interact with and cheer on the club.β
The Bears, who have opened the season with wins over the Detroit Lions and New York Giants, face the Atlanta Falcons on the road Sunday seeking their first 3-0 start since 2013.
