SuperBook Sports has received initial approval from the Maryland Lottery to offer retail and mobile sports betting in the state. SuperBook Sports has a retail sports betting partnership with Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles.
The mobile sportsbook operator still needs to go through a few steps before launching a sportsbook in Maryland, including approval from the Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission. That approval could come in February.

As a final step, SuperBook Sports would need to go to the lottery again for monitored testing. Once that process is completed successfully, the sportsbook can go live in Maryland.
SuperBook Sports is currently live in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, Nevada, New Jersey, and Tennessee.
Other initial approvals
The Maryland Lottery also issued Crab Sports initial approval for a mobile sports wagering license. Crab Sports is partnered with Gaming Innovation Group, which plans to operate Crab Sports’ mobile betting platform. Crab Sports is a sports betting startup that wants to offer Marylanders a local sports betting product.
On the retail side, Canton Gaming received initial approval for a retail sports betting license. The entity hopes to open retail sportsbooks (betPARX) at Greene Turtle sports bars in Baltimore and Towson.
Additionally, Kathe P. Hospitality Services received initial approval for a retail sports betting license. The woman-owned business operates a full-service catering business and is expected to turn its existing location into a retail sports betting facility in Anne Arundel County.
Still waiting for launches
Fanatics Sportsbook went live last week with its retail sportsbook at FedEx Field. The location gives Maryland bettors another noteworthy retail sportsbook, but the operator has yet to launch its mobile sportsbook in Maryland.
There are several other mobile sportsbooks expected to go live in Maryland in the near future, including Bally Bet, betPARX, Betfred, and WynnBET. The operators have not shared official timelines for when they might go live in the state.
Currently, seven mobile sportsbooks — Barstool Sportsbook, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet — are live in Maryland. The mobile sportsbooks went live in late November, and it’s possible that 20 mobile sportsbooks could be live in the state by the end of 2023.
