New York crossed the finish line this week when the New York Gaming Commission issued mobile sports betting conditional licenses to nine major sportsbooks.
The commission at Mondayβs hearing approved licensing recommendations to two consortiums, including a so-called “super bid” featuring: FanDuel,Β DraftKings,Β BetMGM, andΒ Bally Bet.
With nine operators gaining entry to the New York market, the tax rate will be a nation-high 51%. The sports betting operators now turn to a considerable ramp-up period over the next several weeks when the companies must set up the requisite mobile servers needed to facilitate the online sports wagers.
The commission is targeting the Super Bowl for a tentative launch date. Hereβs the story discussed in greater detail.
