William Hill Sportsbook Promo Code & Review 2021
When it comes to history, William Hill has its competitors beat, and it’s not even close. Founded by Mr. William Hill in England in 1934 during a time when gambling was still illegal there, the company has been through it all and seen it all when it comes to running a sportsbook.
The company has a reputation as one of the premier British sportsbooks with an expanding presence across the U.S. But it is certainly not perfect, as we will discuss strengths and weaknesses below. Where it does stand out favorably is the exclusive sportsbook bonus offer through Sports Handle.

In 2012, William Hill hit the shores of America – well, to be precise, the shores of Lake Mead – and made landfall in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company now operates the sportsbooks in 60% of Las Vegas casinos. And when the United States Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in May of 2018, William Hill was poised to capitalize.
A month later, the first William Hill sportsbook outside of Nevada opened at Monmouth Park in New Jersey. Today, William Hill has opened sportsbooks in several additional states and has access to more through a partnership with Eldorado Resorts, which went on to acquire Caesars Entertainment.
This review will take a look at that online experience on both the mobile app and web-based platform, which is mostly the same in all states.

|Deposit Bonus||Risk-Free Bet up to $500|
When you register a new account using one of the many links on this page and use the promo code HANDLERF, your first real money wager will be risk-free up to $500. This means that if your first bet comes out as a loss, no need to worry, as you will receive a one-time free bet in amount of that bet up to $500.
For instance, if you wager $500 on the Sixers moneyline, and they come out on top you will be paid out as normal and nothing else will happen. If that bet comes up short, you will receive a one-time free bet for $500. It’s important to note that that free bet expires seven days after issue, so if you don’t use it, you lose it.
William Hill Sportsbook basics
You must be 21 and over to use William Hill sportsbook. At the sign up page, you’ll need to enter your birth date and last four digits of your Social Security number. This is a security precaution to help protect your account.
Betting markets include the standard sports, and within each sport there’s a wide variety of betting options, including live betting for nearly all sports and leagues.
Design on both the mobile and desktop version is simple and clean. It is next-to-impossible to get “lost” on the site, and even a novice bettor will be able to easily navigate through the choices.
The William Hill sportsbook app is available on iOS and Android systems.
- For iOS users: If you go to the App store, enter William Hill and the app will appear for download.
- For Android users: Like almost all sportsbook and casino apps at present, you cannot find or download them in the Google Play Store. Instead, you will need to use your browser and navigate to the William Hill web website and click on the “Download Android” button.
For everyone on a laptop (or desktop), head to the main website for the Web-based platform version.
William Hill sportsbook mobile app
Mobile betting is the present and future in the sports gambling world, with the on-the-go nature of life matched with the always-something-going-on world of sports. And William Hill’s mobile site is clean and easy to use. Here is a look at how the mobile app works and what you can expect from it.
- Availability – The William Hill app is available for Android and iOS phones. Android users have to download the app from the William Hill site, whereas iOS users can get the app in the App Store.
- Speed – In a word: Fast. Login is fast, placing bets are fast. Never a moment in our testing where there is a “drumming fingers on desk” moment.
- Stability – No issues, crashes or freezes.
- Responsiveness – Again, very quick and responsive to touch, but not overly so.
- Appearance – Clean and neat. A scrolling menu at the top features some top bets happening in that moment, or promos, or special bets, all depending on the time of day. Underneath that is a menu of sports, and underneath that is a Popular/InPlay tab that takes you to either the days top bets or whatever is happening live. On the top left hand, press the three stacked lines for the side menu, or press the WH logo for the main menu.
- View/Layout – Once you tap a tab, it takes the user direct to that sport’s betting markets. Tap a bet, and the bottom of the screen opens up the bet listed at the top and an “enter amount” space to wager. One nice feature: Once you tap a bet – even before you place it – the bet is placed in your bet slip.
Outside of the location of banners, and screen width, there is little difference between the web and app version of William Hill. The only real difference is that the bet slip and open bets are displayed on the homepage of the web version.
When you land on the page, the left side offers three items above all else: InPlay, which takes you to live betting opportunities; a search function; and any and all current promotions William Hill is offering. Underneath those three are the popular sports William Hill offers action on, and underneath that are all the sports.
The center of the screen is dominated by a sliding promotions screen, featuring the top promos of the day. Underneath that are the popular games of that day. The numerous promotions include:
- “Hardwood Live” — Bet InPlay basketball and earn up to $100
- “Friday Night Live” parlays — Parlay 3+ InPlay Games and get a 20% bonus
- “Hometown Hoops” — Bet on local basketball teams for a 25% boost
To the right of the screen sits the bet slip, which shows what’s currently in the bet slip as well as bets that are currently live.
When looking at individual games, there is a “more bets” tab on the lower right side of the game or match at hand, which opens up a second screen showing other betting options — such as game and player props – for the competition.
Clicking on the InPlay tab takes you to the games that are live, with options to look at “all sports” or just the sports that are currently live and of interest to you.
In the top right corner of the screen is the “My Account” tab, which can take you to your betting history, your account, site preferences, gambling controls (where limits can be set), as well as an option to log out.
There is also an “odds format” tab at the top of the page, allowing the user to toggle back and forth between fraction, decimal, and American-style odds.
Overall, the home screen is clean as a whistle. No pop-ups, no freezes, nothing that takes away from use of the site. The color scheme is predominantly shades of blue and yellow with white backgrounds.
Pricing and betting options at William Hill
William Hill has its own oddsmakers and risk-management team (also known as “trading” team), although it does subscribe to Sportradar, which is required for “official data” in some states. What’s important to know is that because WH supplies its own lines and pricing, sometimes they’re a bit different — bettor or worse, depending what you’re looking for — than competitors.
So, it’s always worth shopping at William Hill, whereas at sportsbooks using the same supplier, such as Kambi, the lines will almost always be the same.
William Hill’s betting options run the gamut, although their player props are not usually as wide-ranging as some of their competitors.
A partial list of available bets:
- Point spreads (run lines for MLB)
- In-play betting
- Game props
- Player props
- Round robins
Odds are in line with most other sites, with -110 being the benchmark for spreads and over/unders, although there is a fair amount of movement down to +100 and -120, but still 20 cents per side. Moneylines are competitive for pregame and in-game wagers as well.
As stated earlier, player prop markets are not a strength here. For instance, NBA games do feature over/under player point props and double/double props, but that’s about it when it comes to single player props. No assist markets, no rebound markets, no combo stat lines markets.
The futures markets are better, with many and varied options across virtually all sports, just as good as most of the competition. Pricing on futures are also in line with competition — sometimes better, sometimes worse. Shop around.
William Hill offers the occasional “off the wall” bet – like how many HBP’s will Houston Astros batters endure in 2020.
Unlike some other sportsbook in the market, William Hill does not customarily price out various alternative lines; if the main spread is -3.5 (-110), for example some other books will offer prices all the way up to -21.5 or +21.5, the price obviously varying correspondingly. These can be used for “homemade” parlays, what we call “untraditional” teasers; They do give a lot more flexibility, which is nice. WH does offer traditional 6 and 7-point teasers for football and
One other item William Hill is missing – there is no “cash out” option offered. Many other sportsbooks offer this option, where you can pull out of some bets and “cash out” your winnings (or cut your losses) based on how the action is going in the game.
All in all, the betting options at William Hill are fine for the basics, but if you’re looking for more exotic and varied bets, this isn’t necessarily going to be the site for you.
Key betting markets at William Hill
From state to state, the leagues and markets available for betting vary a bit. Check the state page where you are located for complete information.
In most states, here is a partial list of sports/leagues available:
- Football (NFL and college)
- Baseball (MLB)
- Basketball (NBA and college)
- Motorsports (NASCAR, Formula One)
- Other (Rugby, Cricket)
- Soccer (EPL and many others)
Overall user experience at William Hill
You’re not going to find a cleaner, more user-friendly sportsbook app experience than William Hill. The app (and the website) are easy to navigate and easy to use. Having bets be immediately placed in the bet slip allows for an easier time putting together parlays and the like, and the speed at which the site moves makes things very user-friendly.
Downside? It just doesn’t have the breadth of betting options as some other sites. However, with a near 90-year head start in the business – and a very robust betting option menu in England – it would not surprise to see the choices multiply as William Hill works to keep up with the competition.
One last note — William Hill does have a reputation in Nevada and New Jersey for being unkind to winning bettors. As expected, they dispute this. But we are sure at least they keep tabs on bettors considered sharp who are routinely beating the closing lines and prices. No concern here for recreational bettors, though, and pros or aspirational pros already knew all this.
Deposits and withdrawals
First up, deposits. William Hill allows users to deposit via: Banking options is not a William Hill strength at this time.
- ACH (eChecks)
- William Hill prepaid card
- Visa and Mastercard/debit cards
- Cash at the cage in states where it has partnered with a land-based casino.
What’s missing? PayPal, Skrill and online banking, among other options.
Currently, the only withdrawal methods are transfers to your bank via ACH (eCheck) — the best option — back on the William Hill prepaid card, or in person at William Hill’s retail locations. Clearly, allowing deposits and withdrawals via other, more varied methods – such as the popular and ever-present PayPal – would be welcome.
Go here for our full rundown on banking methods, advantages and disadvantages.
And speaking of physical sportsbooks — that is one area where William Hill excels. Their sportsbook lounges generally have very comfortable seating, table tops, huge video boards, several tellers open and kiosks available, a bar on premises and a bar food menu with waitresses available — overall a cool aesthetic and a good place o watch a game with friends or strangers rooting for the same side as you!
